What am I leaving out?
I'm assembling all the parts I need to go single, here is what I have so far:
Engine with all new housings and rotors, streetported with stock 2mm seals PowerFC w/commander to be dyno tuned with PowerExcel at XS Random Cat Boost gauge GReddy Cat Back SFP downpipe SFP manifold T04E 60-1 .7 comp, 1.15 A/R P-Trim HKS standard wastegate Walbro HP 255lph pump Optima Red gel battery behind passenger 850cc primary, 1300cc secondary injectors PFS stock mount IC Tial BOV GReddy Profec A 12" x 4" K&N Filter Susp: Racing Beat springs/GAB Super shocks Pettit Trak-Pro from sway bar Yoko A032R's on Fikse 17x10 Safety: Autopower race chromoly rollbar Sabelt 5pt harness Corbeau seat Questions: 1. Fuel pressure regulator? 2. HKS TwinPower? 3. Plugs/Wires? 4. What am I leaving out? I want ~450RWHP if possible, and am on a tight budget since the engine rebuilt is killing me, $4300 in parts alone from Mazdacomp! Thanx! |
i would invest in the twin power if you are gonna use the PFC. if you are using haltech get MSD 6a's :) you seem to have everything. i'm also having my engine rebuilt with all new parts except rotors and eshaft so i feel your pain ;)

I've yet to see a 60-1 do 450 rwhp. Its been said that it can be done, but I have not seen it yet. Does anyone have any dyno charts with one of these doing 450 rwhp, I'm pretty curious.

you dont need a FPR, but it would definately help if you got one. XS knows what they are doing in terms of tuning, so i wouldn't be worried about that. its reccomended to run a twin power and new plugs/wires to make sure you have enough spark. other than that...youre all set! after all that, i suggest you invest in a KAAZ LSD, since the stocker wont hold up to all that power.

DOH I forgot a few other things I have:
ACT street/strip 30% over HD clutch M2 9.5lb flywheel PFS crossdrilled rotors with Hawk Blue pads (track only) braided SS brake lines JoedD: So would I need a FPR or a RRFPR? What fuel pressure would I run? Kurgan: okay, how about 420? I think I'll be limited to 17.5 psi right now, which seems to be in the upper effeciency range of this turbo anyhow. Vosco: So now I need to find another $400 for TwinPower/MSD 6a's, great  |
Oh and what about plugs, what temp to run? I just got new NKG wires a few hundred miles ago, are those ok?
Also I'm getting all new synchros in my tranny and putting redline in it and my differential, and I have a short throw shifter. I'll also be filling the cooling system with NPG+ |

I'll also be filling the cooling system with NPG+ and yes, the turbo will do 420 rwhp. BDC did 424 at 17psi with a .96 undivided exhaust housing. |
I just keep thinking of more stuff to add!
Do I need: Hardened stationary gears, modified e-shaft, lightened rotors,Double throttle body elimination,Throttle body coolent elimination, Shortened 5th Gear, -10 AN fuel lines? Okay I'm just going nuts now :-D Anyway, it will be a multi-purpose car that I will be AutoX, RoadRace track, Drag, and street car. |
Oh! Do I need pulleys?
|
Kurgan: cool thanx, do have the part# for the 10.5's? should I run those all around or hotter in the trailing?
I'll have a 1.15 A/R divided so maybe a little more than 420? I'll probably be happy with 400-410 and then after a while my butt dyno will be wanting more :D |

Wow thank you IGY, I had no idea they were the same. Hmm XS said they got 476RWHP from a T04S, and people are saying 420RWHP is what the 60-1 is capable of, perhaps it depends greatly upon the compressor and exaust A/R's as well as the trim?
