Wastegates with V-Bands for new turbo setup?
I'm about to redo my turbo system on the vert and have a few questions.
First the specs on the turbo: 67-1 comp wheel TO4S comp housing .7 a/r Divided T4 tubine housing .96 a/r p-trim Engine has a large streetport. I also need a new wastegate as the GReddy TypeR wastegate I have is suspect. I cannot get my boost to stabilize and it fluctuates by 1.5 lbs or so. I have checked everything else. My lines are short as possible. Boost control solenoid as close to turbo as possible. All pressure/vacuum sources are where they should be. Boost control via a GReddy Profec b specII btw. I really want a wastegate with a v-band and was only able to find this Tial 44mm: http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...egory_Code=WGT Any comments on this or any recomendations? I also noticed Tial has two product lines with the same size wastegates. Anyone have knowledge of the differences? Anyone know of any others or adapters available? |

Does anyone know the differences between the two models of the same size?
I'm not interested in how it looks, but how it performs and it's durabiltiy/reliability. Thanks for the inputs so far btw. |

Probably for the better as those are very expensive. . Thanks for the info though Higgi |
Turbonetics' new 50mm Newgen wastegate is also a v-band wastegate. My new one is up for sale relatively cheap if you're interest...

"get the 44mm man

I am buying one of these bad boys this week and I was going to go with the 46 but if the 44 is better for some reason it will save me a hundred bucks. |
either way you go... buy it from keith... as he has great prices and is a great business man.

When you recieve your turbo, don't be mad because they sent you a open valute (non divided) turbine housing. Because if you tell them you want a .96 A/R thats what you'll get unless someone somewere has come up with their own molds for making turbine housings. T4 turbine housings from Garrett and thier distributers (Turbonetics, PT turbo, Innovative, Majestic, etc etc) come in a open valute (non divided) in .81, .96 and the divided options are .84, 1.00, 1.15 and 1.32 in N, O, P, and Q trim and Innovative selling their own R trim (there are other A/R values that I did not list but there too small for rotary application unless you run two of them).
Just making sure you don't make a purchase mistake. ~Mike.................. |
Thanks for the heads up.
I was corrected by them on that today also. I specified 1.00 divided so if it does show up undivided, I will be mad. |
There is an S Trim option as well, slots between the R, and the Q. We are talking Gt74, and 76 though. Dave I'll send you some $$ for the pulley, LMK. Carl

Hey Dave...fwiw, I have the Tial 44mm wastegate with v-band setup on my single turbo FD with Apex RX6 kit for a couple months now...heard only great things about the Tial products, and I've had absolutely no problem controlling boost. I also bought it from Keith at KG Parts for a good price. You'll need a good welder to put it all together.
