Using Copper as oil lines?
 

Any downside to this? I was shopping for some fittings at a automotive/hardware store and they made up a portion of our oil feed line for a mear $10 out of copper line and brass fittings. They said it would be fine. I could easly do up all my oil lines on my rx7 for under $30 including fittings if its ok

Copper tubing is rated very high in pressure and will be fine. It is soft, so route it away from any rubbing/abrasive actions.

With copper you need to put a coil in it to absorb vibration and allow it some movement, without a coil, it will just work harden and crack at every joint...Max

Im doing this on a RE with a big single hense the feed line cross's over the entire engine, would one or 2 coil's under the UIM be sufficient? or should i put another near the turbo?

I use alot of copper in my refrigeration work, what I do is everytime it comes off a connection, I make a loop around my MC acetalyne bottlewhich is about a 4" diameter.. I have had pretty good luck with that on compressors and stuff...TO be truthful, I don't like the idea of coppertubing in cars, There is alot of roadshock and vibration to contend with , most of the stuff we use it on is rigidly mounted or we put a vibrazorb in the line to isolate the pipe from the vibration..I dont even like the idea of aluminium tubing in cars, even though its pretty common now even in race cars.... really flex hose is where its at for safety, the stainless woven stuff is nice, but with vibration it will cut through other metal parts it chafes against... I know some of the oil line fittings are expensive, but sometimes its better to just bite the bullet it and do it once...Max
