Me Too

Have now decided to put a big single in the Mini. Probably a 60/83 all run by a Lt8 MicroTech, with 1600 secondaries. There isn't much info out there on 13b-REs so any help would be great. (Starting with stock motor with no HP figure to aim for so its open season)
Blindsite, what mild mods have you done so far?

Well first if you are going to be using an RE in your FC you're going to need motor mounts or adapters of some kind. The nice thing about the RE is the secondaries are top feed so you won't need to get a new fuel rail. The stock primaries with 1600 secondaries would be fine for your power goals.

A upgraded fuel pump will be required. You are going to need a good sized turbo in the T66, T-78, GT40, T04S range. Even with all the supporting modifications with a built motor and one of those turbos 450-500 rwhp isn't going to be easy.

My biggest question I have now is how much can the stock engine handle. (in terms of boost pressure) Its A JDM 13b-re with about 40k on it. The idea is so far to get the car on the road, drive it for a while to work out the suspension querks and any thing else that pops up, then when its in need of a rebuild go all out and get it done properly. (once i have finished paying to get the car going in the first place.)
Just need to know how hard they can be pushed during my setup period.

well if your looking for 450 - 500 whp then you would be looking at higher boost. The internals can handle quite a bit but the seals can go pretty easy with high boost. You should base it on how long you want your engine to last bc you can make that kind of power but running high boost then your engine wont last as long. A lot of drag rx7s are running in the 25 range...a lot of street rx7s are running around 15 or so. If you have engine management and a decent port as well as all the supporting mods then you should be able to make your goal with something around a 60/1.00 at around 18 (give or take a few pounds based on your setup) psi.
