Hi,
I am running on stock twin setup on my fd.
My primary turbo leaks oil at the compressor side after running few laps in a track event.
Oil was spraying through my bov, and my intercooler is full of oil.

1) is it possible if the seal fails and the bearings are still in good condition? Explaination?
2) or will the damaged bearings affect the seal to fail?
3) How do we know if the bearing is bad? Any specific measurement or clearance data on the shaft radial and axial play?

Looking forward for advices.
Thanks

Definitely stay away from ebay for turbos. Anybody can take apart a turbo and put it back together but that doesn't mean the turbo is good again (as you pointed out).

I've never worked with carbon face compressor seals but instead of using a torturous path with a piston ring, they are made of carbon for low friction and create a positive seal (makes physical contact to seal). This can be used for applications when compressor pressures are really low (like if you have to mount your compressor stage post throttle body). Unfortunately these seals aren't the best for performance since they have more drag.

So on my Mk3 Supra I have a 1jz swap with a 60-1 T4 and recently during my shifts a puff of blue smoke(Burning oil) comes out the back. Today it was a lot more than what it has been. And when I was sitting at a traffic light I saw smoke coming out the hood so I pulled into a near by gas station and saw the smoke coming from the turbo. So I went on my way to work and never saw smoke come out the exhaust after I left the gas station, I even did a little pull to see if it would smoke and nothing and I was also sitting in the parking lot at work to see if smoke would come from the hood again and nothing. Any thoughts?
