turbo question
 

Hey guys
I am wondering the what you guys may think of this situation.
My 85 gsl se has a cartech turbo!!!
I purchased the car off my br0-in-law.
He had to get a rebuild on the turbo shortly after purchase!!!
The that was about 10yrs ago
last summer I lost a seal in the rear rotor.
I am wondering how likely it is that the turbo was damaged!!???
If not al lis gravey and i'll drop in a new engine. If it is damaged whats your thoughts.......................................... ....!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would you rebuild cartech..................................?

or

Go with a totaly different engine and turbo set-up?

This is an easy answer.

Take off the turbo and take off the hotside housing.. look at the compressor fins.. you'll see if a seal went through there.

It is likely.. usually when a seal goes.. it finds it's way out of the exhaust... and do to that.. it has to go through the turbo.. and then out the downpipe.

Chances are the turbo got taken with the engine.

Best way is to take it apart and see.

I did hear the bits of seal running through the exhaust under me!!!!

that why I'm questioning the rebuild, and considering other options!!!!!
