Turbo oil pipe leakage
Hello,
I am currently trying to restart an 1989 13B Serie 5 engine with my university and now I am doing a sync test to see if the sparks and injectors are firing at the correct time and order. But, while turning my engine without fuel (just with the starter), I saw a oil stain on the ground. I have found where the leakage appears (see Figure). I also saw that my OMP is stuck in 41% opening (an other student was responsible for that) and I was wondering if this leakage was due to the high amount of oil running compared to the low rpm of the engine at start ? In my manual, there are no indication about a specific torque to apply to this bolt so i am wondering if there is one and also if I continue like this, am I damaging the engine ? This engine has been assembled and disassembled many time by different people so my concern is that some bolt aren't fasten enough. Thank you :) https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...d2bda9297b.png |
That connection is a flare fitting, which should be pretty tight. But if it's leaking despite being appropriately torqued, I would inspect the sealing surfaces for any possible contamination or damage.
41% is a bit of an oddly specific number... |
Hello,
Thank you for your quick response. The previous guy how mounted the engine didn't tight it at all !! Now it is fixed. :) The 41% is because our ECU imposed by the university can't control the oil system so we have a device that compute the opening percentage with regressions. A hole story ahah ! Thank you very much. |
