Turbo lines questions.
Yesterday i went to Innovative to pick up a turbine housing for my TO4B. I asked what size line i should use for my turbo oil line and they told me to use -4 for supply and -10 for return??..Does this sound OK??..
Also, what size is the thread on top of the front housing (cast) for the turbo oil supply and what size for the one on the front cover for the return line????... |
yep -4 and -10 are fine.. I actually use a -12 return, but -10 is big enough..
there are a lot of diffrent types of center housing, so I can't really tell you what size thread and pitch the center housing has.. 1/8 npt is a common size for the oil in side, Most center housing require adapter flanges to hook up the lines... You'll also need a oil pressure restrictor for the inlet side... |
thank you. Why do you need an O.P.R???
|
you only need the restrictor on a BB turbo?
|
you need one on a regular bearing turbo as well or you'll be blowing oil out pat the rear seal and smoking like a bitch.. especially with the oil pressure that a 13B puts out...
|
Hey Dragon, the restrictor thing may only be an REW thing, on a 13bt with to4e, I have had no problems with oiling with just a -4 line, it may also depend on what turbo(or who built it)... I am running 20w50 oil as well, which keeps the oil pressure up to..Max

Hmm.. my oil pressure sits at about 2-3 bar at idol and usually around 7 bar normal driving 8-9 bar if I'm railing on it or at high rpm's... Does the FC run lower oil pressure than the FD?? I though they had the same oil pump and regulator...
|
The fc runs lower oil pressure, thats why fc can use the fd regulator to increase oil pressure. I did this on my fc, the fd is suppose to bypass at around 90 psi.
