Turbo Intake Manifold Design
I was reading "Maximum Boost" and a statement was made that "in general" turbo systems work better with long intake manifolds.
Well - I have a long intake manifold. It's basically a dellorto carb intake manifold with a TWM Dual 50mm TB in place of the carb. When I put in the ported 6-port 13B - and turbocharge - I planned to use the lower half 85 GSL-SE stock intake manifold with the dellorto upper half. If you are not familiar with that setup - it puts the TB Behind the alternator with the air intake facing the drivers side. This would be ok if I were to use a Air/Air IC because the IC outlet would be on the drivers side anyway. At this time I'm leaning towards an Air/Water IC. If I use the SE lower half intake manifold - I can fabricate 4 smaller TB's to fit - one for each runner in the manifold facing up. I think there is enough room for the Turbo and Air/Water IC on the passanger side and the air would have a much shorter path to the intake with less bends. But that would be a much shorter intake manifold. What do you guys think?? Steve C |
