Turbo Help
Just got the car from someone and I'm trying to figure out what size turbo I have and if I need to upgrade it or not. This is my first turbo set-up I've delt with so this all might be stupid but I've got to learn somehow.
From what i've already heard is the turbo I have is pretty cheap so please don't comment on that. I'm trying to get the car running first then I'll worry about upgrading more then whats done. All the info I have on the turbo is XSPower Turbo Hot AR 1.15 Cold AR .60 Part # FC3S/FD3S Serial # MZ04409 Any info would be helpful. I can measure other stuff if need be to determine turbo size and what not. |
I'd recommend not even starting the car with one of those turbos. It spins at idle, and if it fails and sends metal particles upstream you can kiss your engine goodbye.
P.S. I lived in Geilenkirchen as a kid, my dad was stationed over in Germany :) |
I don't know the specs of your turbo but sounds like it's an ebay turbo. The best way would be to find a seller who deals with XS Power turbos or contact XS Power directly.

I've seen ebay turbos work pretty well on cheap Honda builds. They seem to hold up better than ebay manifolds. You are rolling the dice though.

I would take the turbo down to your local speed shop and have them check to see if it's balanced. That's one of the most common problems with eBay turbos.

why waste the time getting it running? why not just save your time and put it together once with a proper turbo? you have to wonder about a turbo that has a part number "fc3s/fd3s"
