Truck may be totaled considering getting back into the rotary game
I had been really thinking of putting the truck up for sale and building a single turbo RX-8 on the Renesis engine. Well the truck was hit by a drunk on an ATV fucking around so it might be totaled.
Anyways what my question is is if anyone on here might know more about the Renesis then the people on rx8club... I can't find any info at all. I know the exhaust ports are pretty crap due to emissions but what I can't seem to find is if porting and then premixing is enough to make it a lot more reliable and good with a turbo. Mainly just wondering what I can do to make a strong turbo Renesis. |
The side seals can't hold up over time to the heat of using boost.

Yeah, the 13B-MSP really isn't ideal for boost.

what they said, the renesis can handle boost but only in small amounts. that is why there are so few who are in the 300+whp club and stay there. the one test engine i am building for a customer has modified 13B turbo housings so that the exhaust can leave the engine via the peripheral exhaust before the side ports.

Thanks for the info guys

Worst case scenario I might consider a 13btt engine with meqasquirt. But I don't know what it takes to make that work... I would obviously prefer an FD but a nice one is getting harder and harder to find and the good ones are quite expensive still. The RX-8 chassis is a fun one anyways. |
i will try to document the results but the credit would go to John at Goopy since he recommended i try it. basically they're just S5 TII rotor housings that i had milled the coolant seal channels into and ported for early exhaust timing and using his 2mm renesis apex seals.
i can envision it might be good for around 500whp reliably but still not suited for high boost like the older engines are. |
