its a good feeling when eople look at you and your car with some skepticism and then you offer them a ride and they laugh and agree then show them what a 1.3liter rotary what a t78 is all about and then look at them white in teh face and handle firmly gripping the passenger door handle(which you must ask them not to break off) and just smile. what a great feeling... how many of you single turbos get that?

TopSecretUSA 05-06-03 12:14 AM

I get the same on my t78. I love this car ;)

ExFastWS6 05-06-03 08:00 PM

i still claim t78 as the best all around driveable turbo as far as fun factor goes..... someone prove me wrong otherwise... take me for a ride in something bigger/smaller and i'll decide :)

Dougie_fresh_007 05-06-03 09:57 PM

rx6 b :)..... im lookin at that ax75 looks familiar

All you guys with a T78, did you dowell your engines and also what ECU are you using.

al900rr 05-08-03 03:42 PM

No dowell, Haltech E6K

rx7tt95 05-08-03 10:50 PM

No dowell, PFC w/Datalogit. I've upgraded my compressor too...think bigger than a T88 w/T78 spool up. :-)

I get that with mine, give someone a ride and they are like I can handle it, and then you get it to 15 psi + and they are like holy crap LOL.... They look at it this way, that 95% of 1st gens are slower than shit, and they expect the same LOL I love it, but hope someone doesnt break my door assist grip LOL

vosko 05-10-03 09:36 AM

haltech E6K........i usually give people rides at 10psi..... they start yelling and screaming. its great :)

Cheuk in Seoul 05-12-03 12:02 AM

I usually just keep it at 15 psi and give them a quick 1st gear roll to 3rd gear redline run.

It is kind of funny watching them reach for interior trim pieces and bracing their legs in my peripheral vision.

The crap-scared-outta factor is dramatically increased when it comes in the form of a turbo first gen. Because people just don't expect it from a car 20 years old. It's great! :D

madaz07 05-12-03 04:58 AM

yeah i recon AJC13B's 1st gen wold be a handfull ,gt 35/40 and he said it goes harder now then when he had his ta45 on it wich made 450+ rwhp

I drove in a 10sec auto supra. the fact that it is an auto makes it feel so much faster. Clean, strong powerband.

Then I drove in Tony (t and r racing) car. This was right after we went 10.1. He punched the car in 3rd and 4th and ran 4th gear to about 7500!. I shit myself!!! What a difference in both cars.

Check out this in car view of the bullish racing supra...i thought this was one of the best in car videos on the 1/4 mile..

Jason's Pineapple with upgraded T-78 kicks booty. I've been lucky to have been involved in the tuning of this car and Nocab72's Pineapple with GT-35-40. Both make the butt checks pucker up, trying to hug the seat. Squat in both cars at around 16-17psi is huge! Can't wait to see them lineup again. They are both huge performers.

I can top you all with my ride in the single turbo 3 rotor that Peter Farrell built for Kevin Roberts back in the late 90's. Shit ass fast. I think at 7 psi around his shop, the exhaust gas energy spooled the turbo up fast, no lag or what I thought was no lag. Not sure what turbo it was but I think it was in the 500 RWHP range and 425 ftlbs. That was the fastest car I've ridden in....period.

hey tim... i was just looking through an old SCC and saw your name... you bitched em out cause they didn't have enough rotary content! haha, they called you whiney! hahah

Tim Benton 05-24-03 08:23 AM

"i was just looking through an old SCC and saw your name... you bitched em out cause they didn't have enough rotary content! haha"

That's why I dropped my subscription to SCC and Super Street...
Some people just don't see the ability of these engines.

Back to the subject, I can't wait to have my single turbo install complete. I hope to get the reaction that many of you have gotten with your cars.

Just reading all these posts makes me want to trade my car in for a single turbo FD even more!!
