T04s vs T-78
 

Which makes more power and has the better power curve....... all other things being equal...??? Thanks, Chris

looking for power curves this time...

unless you are after more than 600HP, and therefore require more than 20psi worth of air flow a T04 will out perform a T78 or similar spec turbo.

ari yallon uses t-78 and look how his car performs i think results speak for them selfs.

Look at ADAM, ABLE both use to4 based turbo's .... I think their results are better.

In Australia, ALL the 8 and 9 second cars use TO4's, it is down to personal preferance I suppose.

Unless you are wanting over 600hp at the flywheel and therefore require psi to be in the mid to high 20's then a T04 based turbo will give you better results.

look at the compressor maps the t-66 is a monster.
ON the map you will be at about 35 on the bottem and depending on intercooler about 1.8-2.2 on the left anything bigger than a t-66 you mite start surgging. get ball bearing extrudehone it, and jet coat it put your name on it. Save the greddy turbos for guys that have alot of extra cash me I will save for other stuff. Don't get me wrong I love greddy I have the following greddy stuff: type r bov, profec a, turbo timer blue, there great but turbonetics is cheep and kicks some boost.

I Agree... US has the worst case of name brand syndrome... The key for Rotary's is in the Exhaust housing... This is where the power is made!!! So a t04 with a nice big exhaust housing will be plently of power...More then enough for a street car... A Turbonetics T66 would be an excellent race car setup but i wouldn't go any bigger on the comp... All that's going do is make more lag. As for the greddy t78 & t88 there just a big waste of money... Hey if you want to throw your money away let me know and i will be more then glad to take it..

given the fact that both cars are running similar tuning, porting, etc...wich turbo will make power at 15 PSI, T04S or T-78?? what about 17 PSI??

I agree, unless you are building a track car who cares what Ari, Adam, Able or Ray are using. Their cars are built for track straight line performance. Also they don't worry about lag since they have otherways to compensate for it.

I daily drive my T04S and i have no problems with it...power is good and responce is good enough. At one time i was debating getting the T51R but like the T88 I don't think that it is as practical for street use as a simple T04 set up. At the most i might switch to HKS' new T04R kit.

Is the Turbonetics 60-1 the same as the T66?

And could somebody maybe direct me to a webpage that explains compressor blade angles, trim angles, etc. and if it's not a ball-bearing turbo, what else could it be?

the 60-1 is a smaller compressor than the T66, it flows less air.

for the optimum set up you want the smallest compressor that will flow the air for the HP you require, that way the sheer size of the compressor isn't hindering spool up anymore than it needs to

ok i just bought a t78 and i hear mixed things about it, so are you saying that i wasted my money on this, what im looking for is to be in the 400hp area and what i dont want is high death sydrom that i got with the stockers, should i sell the t78

Whatever they were saying, it was in late 2001.

T78 are proven, many of the new "kits" out arent doing anything spectacular.

it doesn't matter what people think, if your comfortable with it why care what people think about your set-up? all set-ups have their upside and downside it all depends on you on what you want to do as far as everyday driving or different types of track uses such as autocrossing or drag racing. You can do what I'm about to do and build 2 different set-ups one for autocrossing and drag racing.

this is the best response i've seen all night, tonight. i can't understand why so many people need validation from others, especially when they actually satisfied with what they have.

i use t78 got no problem with it. i m at 18psi no lag

plus u dont want 600hp, asking to throw ur engine away

i guess people ask because they dont know, and if one has gone threw the pit falls, thats why one ask. all i can say is if you dont have anything positve to say about the subject then why say anything, i dont get this about the fourm, i guess there just trying to make there post go up in numbers
