Is the TO4s a ball bearing turbo?

Can be.................. It will add between 300.00, and 800.00 depending, The Tnetics is a single ceramic bearing(NOT recomended), or Innovative can build you one. Carl Byck

my good friend runs a ceramic single bb t04s on his eclipse he just had it rebuilt by a local shop for around 400. just wondering why this turbo is not recommended, or is it just not good to use with the extra heat of a rotary?

I know of an unusually high # of failures on that set up, I am sure many have good luck with it, and according to an ad in TURBO magazine Turbonetics now has a very strong warranty. The CHRA must not have been replaced for the 400.00 since the adder for BB is 550.00 with no labor, either that, or your buddy got an unusually good deal. I know of several failures within the first several thousand miles, also every one I see for sale has been rebuilt, compared to ITS, when you see theirs for sale they are generally not rebuilt.
That said, A standard big shaft Q trim properly sized will spool nearly as fast, 1/2 the price to rebuild, and will outlast it by a good margin from what I know. Of course, all of this is IMHO, and everything is realtive, Carl
