Has anyone used this size turbo or similar? Turbonetics reccomended this for me. I am putting it on a Streetported 12a with 47 OER sidedraft. Do these numbers seem right? What are the characteristics.. i.e when does it come on and how strong etc...

 

That sounds like something in the right size. It should be similar to a 3076. It has a 62mm turbine, 58mm compressor, max out around 450-500hp Im guessing.

 

thats what im going for... just over 400... hoping it get up to desired boost quickly though... the BB and f1 turbine should help with that...

 

Even on a 12A you're going to want a bigger turbine a/r. Everything else looks fine..

 

Ok good this is what i want.. im new to the turbo thing so im just going off of their calculations and book calculations for sizing.... i want more experienced people to let me know what has and hasnt worked well. What size turbine and AR would you reccoomend and why?

My engine has very low miles and i plan on intercooling it also. I was planning about 15 psi.

Sounds like a good turbo for that price. I would go with a bigger a/r though, maybe the .68, .81... something like that.

 

You will want a bigger hotside. Here is the dyno graph of my best pull 7 days ago. TO4E .60/.84 on a stock port S4 motor. I only planned on running 15psi instead of 19psi, but the HKS standard wastegate can't keep up. I drew in the RPM marks in the top section. You can see I reached 15psi by 3500rpm's. This isn't a ball bearing turbo either. I think going smaller than .84 on the hotside will really choke that turbo out.

 

i have the T4/62-1 with 0.82A/R turbine (64mm) and 0.60A/R compressor(66mm).
i do not know if it is the same turbo .i am not familiar with the naming of these equipment. althought it seems to work fine on a 93" rx7 engine
do anyone knows what the T04E diference is with the T04?

 

the t04e is an actual turbo, the t04 isn't.

Go with a 1.00 divided (if you divide your manifold, which you should). Best compromise between response and flow.

A T04 is a turbo, also known as a T4. Its just a reference to having a T4 turbine and a T4 compressor, but it doesnt tell you anything more than that. T04B, T04E, T04S... all refer to a turbo being a straight T4 with the B, E, S.... being the compressor cover style.

The link you're asking for is called search, that very information is all over this forum and when I was new I found it in literally 30 seconds. I know this isn't the first time someone has said to do it.

There is no such thing as a t04 turbo. t04 is a family of turbos (garret and subsequent clones) comprised of the b,e,s,r, and z turbos. it is different from t4, which is a flange size, not a turbo. The letter is not just cover style, it's the overall size of the turbos, which generally all have the same compressor cover, but it also indicative of the range of sizes that the possible compressor and exhaust wheels can be.

 

T4 flanges/housings are also called "T04". A T3/T04 is also called a T3/T4, meaning the compressor cover falls into the T4/T04 size family. A T3/T04E means a T3 turbine housing and a T04E compressor cover.

Yes, the T04+letter also refer to specific turbos. A T04S being P trim and 60-1 compressor, T04Z being a ball bearing P trim with 67mm compressor, etc... but the T04 naming system doesnt always mean a specific turbine/compressor combination, but it can.

 

Hey from WI....Nice! not many Wisconsonties on here. I think im going to go with a Garrett GT35R 1.00 trim from Turblown.net Nice stuff here.. plus i can get a 12a mani Hopoing for 400rwhp at around 15 psi and full boost before 3500 hopefully.
