T04B on center problem

When i test fit my T04B on center turbocharger on my 87TII it doesnt clear the frame rail. Im using an HKS cast manifold. I came across a website of nice supped up FCs (1300cc) and one of their rides have the same turbocharger and manifold and the guy made it fit. It looks to me that he banged in the frame rail a bit to make the turbo fit. Can i do the same thing to my frame rail???....I dont want to spend another 400-600 bucks to for a new housing..
I know the engine will shutter and the turbo will hit the frame rail, but im thinking of using the RB torque brace to eliminate this problem.. I need anyones help here..thanx in advance!!!....

when I upgraded from the T72 to my current T51S, I had lots of trouble clearing the frame also. I end up having to bang the frame just a little to clear it. branging it little bit should not hurt much. But if you cut or crush the frame, it might loose the structure ridgity....
I suggest you try the Tanginal turbine housing. I believe the HKS manifold mounts the turbo horizontaly, by using the tanginal housing, it will push the turbocharger up just slightly and might clear your frame. A tanginal exhaust housing is around $200-$300.

VOODOORACING- if i bang in the frame rail do you suggest heating it with a torch first????..

probably not necessery, I banged mine without heating it first.
I made the indention very evenly spread out, and use a mallet instead of hammer.... I also welded around the area to stiffen the strength...

Boy, what a headache cause you won't want to buy another turbine housing?&nbsp Who quoted you $400-$600 for a tangential turbine housing???

I believe Turbonetics sells them at $200-$300 each.

make sure you get the turbine housing for the right exhaust wheel trim. Like Ted says, the swap should be easy.

The swap is simple, If you are wanting a different turbine housing then contact me. I am turbonetics, innovative and precision dealer. Ill hook ya up ;) greg@importformance.com

today i spoke with Majestic, Turbonetics, TUrbocharger.com and a couple of speedshops that specializes in turbocharging hondas and other cars. They all qouted me more than 300 bucks for a .81 housing and that also includes flange,v band, and welding the flange to the housing. That is way too much money for me to spend right now.

I might sound stupid here but, i think if i cut 1" of the HKS cast manifold runner (both runners) that is closer to the manifold flange i think the turbo will clear the rail. Im gonna take it to the same guy that customized my NPR IC. He said he can weld cast.

What do you guys think?????.. i really cant afford a new housing now. $$$ is kind of slow and i need to finish this project.

usually is not advisable to weld cast... or braze it... it is not as strong, depends on the quality of the cast...
it will clear the frame rail if you make the manifold shorter. It will also improve the turbo response a little :-)
May be your downpipe might need some modification to fit...
