stage three or 1/2 bridge?

About to rebuild a motor and wounder if the bridge power is worth the loss in driveability. Going to slap on a huge turbo and think that the bridge will encourage me to take it to deep in the redline. So is the bridge worth 10 miles to the gallon?

if you are asking the question with that much enthusiasm and lust for the bridgey then it would appear that you have already made up your mind on what you are gonna do, bite the bullet, bridge port it and live near the redline. the sound is worth alone even if nothing else, we all know that oh so sweet sound of a bridge port sends shivers down your spine and makes you tingle in strange places......

lol yeah I get a stiffy everytime I hear it. but if you don't balance the motor than you shouldn't exceed 8,500 rpm and that wouldn't give a bridge port justice. a big street port could go over that.

What does "Stage Three" mean?

IMO a full bridge is Stage One :D :D

amemiya 06-13-02 10:07 PM

lol I just call a fully maxed out street port stage 3.

HWO 06-14-02 05:23 AM

back in the 70's it used to be
Stage 1 - mild port
Stage 2 - extended port
stage 3 - bridge port
stage 4 - J port
Stage 5 - Peripheral Port

how about stage 2.5 extend port primarys and bport secondarys

I never heard of stages only the by port names

peejay 06-14-02 05:12 PM

That's my point... "stage" names are stupid because they explain absolutely nothing.

HWO 06-14-02 05:45 PM

in NZ a extended port is often refered to as stage 2 porting. often see motors for sale , Series 4 13B turbo motor, Stage 2, rady rady rady

RETed 06-14-02 07:14 PM

"rady rady rady" = "yada yada yada" = "blah blah blah"?

I started calling it in stages because it was to hard to explane to customers what I was doing. and becuase they would see hayes and pineapple call them in stages so they ask me " IS it a stage 3???" sure why not. anyone ever try a partial parifrial.

amemiya no spell right.
