SSautochrome Master Power GT45?
What do you guys think of this turbo for a 3rd gen? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2468493266
I think it is a nice size. |
that looks like it should make some nice power even with stock ports
|
I wouldn't buy that turbo, I have never heard of Master Turbo, the quality doesnt look all that great, I doubt it performs as claimed, and the guy does not sound like he knows what he is talking about all that well.
|
alright...I gotta ask...how can you say
"the quality doesn't look that great" its a freakin turbo charger...the important parts that dictate quality are internal.... just because it isnt' shiny and polished doesn't mean squat...or say greddy on it. there are only so many oem turbo mfgs out there...and a lot of people that rebadge them...nothing wrong with rebadging IMHO. It has most of the specs, but the only thing that would concern me is that it isn't water cooled...and that the compressor housing is only a 0.66. Most large turbos I've seen are running 0.7 housings or bigger. the physical wheel measurements look pretty good though...not sure how much efficency you loose from stuffing a big wheel in a small compressor housing. I'm looking at this turbo too. I noticed the compressor housing was a little small myself. Hopefully someone will have some insight into this.
|
small? do you guys know the specs? I do
It is a T70 in the front with a LARGE! compressor cover (My Turbonetics T-66 had a .55 cover) the inlet is 4 1/2 with a bigger I mean BIGGER then Q trim! Turbine wheel bigger then HKS KAI exhaust wheel (I have specs of the KAI) Has a anti-surge inlet which will add to lag I've read doing a search about all the bitching how the HKS T51 KAI Turbo is too big and how it is really laggi(non BB)(only soul , resource and sakudo like the turbo) the KAI was a 94.0 Major while the so called gimmic name "GT45" has a 97.0 Major compressor wheel The Kai has 71.4 Turbine inducer the "master Power GT45" has a 77.5mm Inducer exhaust wheel or in Inches -Q Trim Turbine Wheel Exducer...2.693" Major...3.111" -Turbo GT45 Turbine wheel Exducer...3.05 Major...3.46 Funny how you single turbo guys are You want anything from the 60-1 thru the T-76 Yet post after post says you will have to run 20PSI+ to be in a large turbo's efficency range yet most of you will only run 12-15PSI on the street It is upto you I mean the price is good even tho it is a Turbo made in Brazil and has 0 proven record here in the states or anywhere for that matter The concern is the balacing Turbonetics , Precision etc do extensive balancing of there turbos for competition purposes and the exhaust wheels can take the heat of the rotaries Also there rest of the line up as seen in Ebay are small shaft and have T3 Turbine housings Yet again if you have the money and can spare some cash to experiment with this turbo I find it good for the price (if you can win one for under $600) for you daily drivers the Super T70 would be good just swap to a T4 turbine housing it is like a 60-1 and is big shaft |

Make your own conclusions on their quality. Read through their website - there's a lot of questionable statements. I have no idea what a "wet floating ball bearing" is??? Other web search hits include "Stone Racing", but doing a thorough search on "Stone Racing" turns up basically nothing. The red flags should all be popping up by now. I can't find your feedback out of 18,000 or whatever... what happened?

Why does their ebay ad seem like a pushy salesman trying to sell me a lemon??? I wouldn't trust this item at all just on a gut feeling.

I've seen these turbo on cars that smaller shops have produced..It's a way for alot of shops to make a name and not go bankrupt trying to compete with bigger companies.
