thanks guys ;)

so again, do not go over 20psi! haha

AFAIK the older MTs came standard with a 2.5 bar ABSOLUTE sensor. Absolute means that it's referencing from zero pressure. Standard atmospheric pressure at sea level is around 14.5 psi (1 bar). So a 2.5 bar sensor can sense that first bar plus an additional 1.5 bar (~20 psi). This is how all MAP sensors are rated. Any sensor will read it's rating minus 1 bar. A 5 bar sensor will read 4 bar of positive boost.

At some point not long ago, AFAIK, MT upgraded all their units to 3 bar sensors. So they are capable of sensing up to 2 bar of boost or about 29 psi. You'll be able to tell which unit you have by what the tuning map registers. I'm not a total MT expert but the units I have tuned (LT8s) only registered 20 psi boost on their maps. MT now lists 3 bar sensors as standard. It is easy enough to look in the software display to see how much boost the sensor is setup for.

Bad news! No dyno today becausse of problem with starter motor and computer not communicating with ECU. I had 2 experts in my garage and they just said change the laptop! To bad... very dissapointed. Now i'm gonna dyno this REW engine on 10-11 of October instead.

Thanks guys, I'll look at my lt10s when I put it in. It's brand new so maybe it does have teh 3bar? I guess I'll find out. Thanks again, as this saved me from just turning up the boost and watching my motor go boom.

REW engine started today! Nice smooth idle from 1500 rpm but below 1500 no idle, engine stops. Have some problems with the ignition fluttering forth and back 10 degrees. Does anyone know if it's critical to have 2mm(maximum allowed by Mazda) in space between sond and trigger wheel? Did some fast 4-5000 rpm rupps and turbo starts spooling air!

This is a bridgeport 13b which hasnt been dynoed yet.

is that methonal injection on that bridge port?

Lasse wankel 02-04-07 03:35 PM

Yes we are planning on using methanol injection and a Swedish ProSpark fuel/ignition system. But first shall we dyno with gasoline and a big intercooler.

6 more days... i love when people are open about dynoing :)

Lasse wankel 02-05-07 04:10 PM

Yeah i'm getting a little bit nervous...haven't mapped a MicroTech before only ProSpark with hand controller, but i hope doin fine!

That thing looks like a beast...Kind of scary...

Lasse wankel 02-06-07 02:50 AM

Yeah hope it does make some serious hp also!

PhatManBUD 02-06-07 11:51 AM

472 whp

Erdin 02-06-07 01:02 PM

480 at 7000rpm

PhatManBUD 02-06-07 04:00 PM

I see your 480 and raise you, 482 whp @ 7,000 rpm.

Lasse wankel 02-08-07 06:16 PM

I am gonna dyno engine power on a Superflow 901 dyno on Saturday. But yesterday i had some problems with my ignition sensors and must have new cables and terminals. A rotary tuner here in Sweden has dynoed 627 hp@6700 rpm (no boost pressure given) on a 13B REW on gasoline with a 70 mm compressor wheel turbo. My intention is not to bet his hp becausse i am only gonna use max 20 psi boost!

Now everything is in the car! Plan to go 6 Am tomorow for dyno the "beast" On Sunday i have the answer!

Just wondering might sound stupid here but wouldn’t you break the engine in before a run on the dyno?

No_Rotor_RX7 02-09-07 10:49 PM

all depends on the build. most of the time you can get away with a few heat cycles :)

mono4lamar 02-10-07 10:33 AM

so we get results today right?

A7X 02-11-07 02:17 AM

dyno that shit!!! i wanna see. i got a 42R. im curious to see the dyno!!

fd3s7007 02-11-07 11:09 AM

i'm sticking with my earlier figure of 542.5rwhp. any news??

No_Rotor_RX7 02-11-07 11:55 AM

yea lets see the damage! :)

Update! I have been to DTE Racing and set up the REW engine, started it and let it break in on light load for an hour, then came the problems... some spark plugs ruined
bad connections (soldering) and finally a burnt igbt 4 ignition box! Shiit only one full pull at 3000 rpm 10 psi boost, 105 hp. We had a really low timing on the ignition which we newer figure out with the 1.1 wersion program but now we have 1.2 installed in the laptop. I have ordered today a new ignition box and cablage will be here in about 10 days. New dyno time is 27th of Februar.
