which single turbo kit to get

only looking for 300 to 350hp just going single to clean up the engine and get rid of some of the twin setup problems.

any will do for that HP

I had the Apexi and loved it. I made 355rwhp on a non-ported motor, not properly tuned, at 14.5 psi. The Apexi kit spooled just as fast as the stock twins as well. A single set-up is the only way to go on the 3rd gen, the stock set-up is way to complex for the hp it makes and is extremely difficult to trouble shoot. I actually changed a primary injector without even removing the upper intake intake manifold. This would have been a 4 hour job on a twin set-up.... It took me 20 minutes or less...

sounds good anyone else's experience? really just looking for the simplicity not too much into the power i don't drag..

greddy/trust, have real fast spooling turbos, and practically no lag, and they can put out the HP your asking for. TD06 is always nice

yea if you want around 350 hps and very good response go for the RX-6 or RX-6b.

GT 35/40 at stock boost levels 10-12 PSI.

I think you should go with this more moderately sized turbo. You will not be pushing it to it's limits, and in return componets will be running cooler, and causing less stress. engine bay temps should also be cooler.

In the end you will also have the ability to up the boost later on without having to spend another 2 to 3k. Oh yah...you will be upping the boost, sooner or later :)

just get a to4e..to4s..or a rx6. some guys have a rx6B which is a little bit bigger than a normal rx6. 76mm compared to 77mm or something like that. but i would get a car first and then fix all the things and do the reliability mods. also the rx6 and gt35/40 are dual ball bearing turbos....ball bearing= money! also no matter what kit you get you need a bunch of other parts...i did my own single turbo turbo conversion and it cost about 9 grand to go from stock to single turbo mode.

fdeeznutz 08-31-03 10:26 PM

9 grand....Woa!! Was that figure for a completely bone stock rx 7? I imagine you are talking about everything...comuter,exhaust,fuel system,IC, and turbo kit. A few of my friends have put some together for less than 4000. They already had PFC,IC That saves 2000 right off the top. Just wondering

yep from a totally stock 3rd gen to a single turbo badass! that figure doesnt include the clutch suspension, or any maintenance issues.
