single turbo fuel system guidance

i am on the waiting list for a 500R-SP and already have the engine out. i am doing alot of mods for the summer and want to do a badass fuel set up, but i need the assistance of some subject matter experts. honestly, money isnt an issue here and i do not want to be cheap.

so far i have the xcessive LIM in hand (ready for shipment for polish and teflon inner/ceramic chrome outer coat) and a sard fuel rail system in transit. i plan on having xcessive modify the rail so i can go 4 injectors up top. how would i wire these injectors, just run these wires in parallel? would the tuner divide by half for the correct CC's via 2 injectors with one signal?

for my fuel system, i was looking at 6each of the yaw power/ injector dynamics 1000cc injectors, 4 secondaries and 2 primaries. is this too much? should i bump my primaries down to 725cc's?

i really need some guidance and read all i could. now it is just the point of asking questions and getting things done. when everything is done, i will post pictures of the completed set up in this thread for referance. all assistance will be appreciated. thank you :)

How much power are you shooting for? 6 injectors is overkill for most cars. Average single turbo car usually runs 1680/850cc combo which will provide plenty of fuel.

it also depends on what kind of fuel you are going to run. me personally i always over build, so if i want 400 hp i build a fuel system to support 600 hp.

arghx 06-07-09 01:06 AM

the fuel system you are discussing would be more suited for E85...

2a+RoN 06-07-09 11:25 AM

I would step down to the ID725's on primaries if you're running a PFC, since that ECU has a hard time controlling larger injectors on the primaries. Otherwise, sounds like a good setup. Tony at T1 can get you the same electrical adapters if you already have square EV1 style plugs wired in. Even though this sounds like way too much fuel, this setup will be WAY easier to control since the ID injectors go down so low and are much more linear than 1600's, making the 2ndary transition so much smoother. Plus we've swapped bosch EV6 40lb injectors with the 725's and gained power and driveability... Trust me, you'll love them!

i am looking at going this route actually. i will stay pfc for now until i get everything together. when it is running, then i will look at getting the motec m2r down the road for my winter build.

here is what i am looking at doing:
VP Streetblaze 100 ethanol race fuel (street legal and $10 a gallon)
Fuel Safe fuel tank
Sard fuel rails
Sard FPR
Injector Dynamics 1000cc injectors x6each
Bosch 044 fuel pumps
Earl's fittings

would this be adequate for a 500hp street car?

GoodfellaFD3S 06-08-09 04:30 PM

Davin, for only 500 rwhp I don't think all this craziness is needed personally.

I can't see a reason to go with sard fuel rails and regulator, they can't be cheap. Also ditch the fuel cell, you don't need it.

Davin 06-08-09 08:50 PM

so to start off with E85 and eventually the VP, should i bump my primaries to 725 and not 1000cc?

IRPerformance 06-08-09 10:19 PM

You're going to have a hell of a time getting the car to idle with 1000cc primaries and the power fc. How much boost are you planning to run?

ScorpionT 06-08-09 10:21 PM

I would go with the ID 725cc primaries because if youre going with 4 1000cc secondaries, that will be plenty for 500whp.

2a+RoN 06-08-09 11:16 PM

If you are running ethanol, you will probably be able to get away with the ID1000's on primaries and will need that much fuel. But, if you're gonna be running the car on gasoline, you'll have a hard time at idle with the PFC and 1k's. Its not the injectors fault either, we've ran 4x ID1000's on hayabusas and had stock idle...

maybe like 20psi max

GoodfellaFD3S 06-09-09 07:04 AM

I've been running 20 psi on the street with zero issues.

KGparts 870/1680 top feed injs with stainless steel lines and aeromotive FPR, Apex'i BNR33 fuel pump. Done.

P.S. I can also get the car to idle at high 13s AFR with my Power FC.

i had a hard time trying to tune my car to idle with 850s
went with 660 and my idle is great nevermind the 1000cc

looks like i am going with the 725cc primaries and 4ea of the 1000cc secondaries. thanks guys :)

Jason 06-09-09 09:09 AM

850's are fine in the primary spot. We have done that setup probably a hundred times. This is with a Power FC.

There is no reason to run race fuel. Get a good alky system and use it with pump gas. It will also save you a lot of money.

i believe 1000cc secondaries wont cover your needs.

I bought the ultimate fuel system kit from Jason with everything included( and just replaced the primary injectors with the 660s) (secondaries are 1600) and my fuel is enough for 500 and some hp.

no reason to go with 4secondaries, you will need injector controller etc.
2x1600 u ll be fine

If your tuner is fine with the 850s primary then ull be fine. I wasnt able to tune it properly with the 850

dregg100 06-09-09 09:49 AM

no he wont need an aux. injector controller for 4 secondaries. yes he would be fine with 2 1680s, but some people want to do different things. you just wire the secondaries together and tell the ecu that the secondaries are 2000cc injectors. you will have no problem getting it to idle with 725cc injectors.

or you could be like me and run 4 1680 secondaries!! lol

2a+RoN 06-09-09 09:54 AM

these are saturated injectors, just run them in parallel, no controller or resistors necessary. They will be MUCH easier to tune than 1600's, flow more, be able to have better driveability, and most likely make more power from better atomization... There is no reason people should have to deal with 1600's anymore. Here is what I'm talking about:

Obviously these are honda's and we're not idling in the trough, but that's where the 2ndaries will transition in.. Also note how soon they start going non-linear on the top end...

Connecting them together will change the resistance, you might end up blowing your pfc

when you connect them in paraller the total resistance decreases, i dont see how you wont need resistors

Agreed

Parallel = less resistance

R = ( r1 x r2 ) / ( r1 + r2 )

Series = more resistance

R = ( r1 + r2 )
