rx6 wastegate spring ....

got my rx6 turbo kit installed and running good now. but now i cant keep the boost below 12psi. i called apexi and they dont make a wastegate spring that is smaller or less tension. are all springs the same size? or are there any others comapatable with apexi's? i seen on the hks website they have a 7 psi spring and thats what i am looking for.

Are you going to answer you PM's ? I'm interested in your Supra 16-inch wheels.

I have a Tial 46mm and they offer different pressure springs.

If Apexi does not make a lighter pressure spring for your WG, you have two basic options:
(1) cut the spring shorter to reduce pressure.
(2) take the spring out and give us the dimensions, maybe another brand spring might work or also could be modified to fit your needs.

When I bought my car the previous owner had installed a stiffer spring "raw steel color" and boost would not go below about 14PSI. I had him send me the original spring which is red in color and now I get about 7PSI with the boost controller turned off and the adjustment screw on the wastegate backed out as far as possible. Hope that helps.

Few basic things I learned a while back when dealing with my single turbo boost issues:

You can not control boost to go any lower than the wastegate spring. I actually thought the Apex wastegate was a 1bar (~15psi) spring. If you have a spring that keeps boost at 12psi, that's probably already been modified. Keep in mind that a boost controller will only help you to turn boost UP from the springs, not down!

m104-amg , sorry i just seen your pm's , for some reason they were not highlighted. i got back to you.

i know the previous owner of this kit bought a different spring , but it still holds 12 psi. i have the original apexi spring here and have measurements

Inner spring dia. 35mm
overall spring length . 80mm
outer spring dia. 40mm

i found this spring on ebay from xs-power and they look very close , i need the red one 5.8 psi , i want to contact them but they have no phone #, i emailed them but they havent gotten back to me yet.

I had a great link that I cannot find now. Basically it was about a guy who set out to rebuild his blitz wastegate. What he found out is that the wastegates are all built by the same company, and then rebadged accordingly. I had the same blitz wastegate, and just bought a HKS Race spring. Sure enough, it was the same exact dimensions. You can probably do the same. Just pull the 2 and compare. :)

Your 40mm = 1.57".

The Tial springs will not work for you as they come in two sizes:
1.875" OD and 2.36" OD. They call them small and large. You can combined a small and large together for different pressure values.
