Running Rich Constantly

I have a t04s single and I can't give exact mielage right now, but I was wondering how come I'm running so rich? I got a funny setup, I admit it, but I bought it of the previous owner like this and since SP Engineering did all the work for him, I'm pretty sure they knew what they were doing. And all he was told was that he needed a new fuel pump and that's it. I don't think pushing more fuel would help it run less rich. What is your take on this guys?

Ok lemme change this post to, what mpg do you single guys run :p:? It so happens I get roughly 13-15 on the highway from my calculation. Was just wondering how this compares to you guys out there.

This probably relates to a thread in the 3rd gen section about MPG. Part of the problem is the rotary's poor thermodynamic effiency, and part of it is the damn rich maps that many, many people are running. Now I know Rice Racing hangs in here and I was hoping he could chime in about how lean one can safely go on part throttle mixture. Yes, we know under positive manifold pressure we need at 12.0 :1 A/F , but how lean can we safely in the vacuum part of the range. Rice and other experienced tuners, can you share your experience on setting up cruise mixtures, and whats safe, and whats not?????
