Recommendations on a single E85 fuel pump for 600whp (13B-RE)

Hello Guys,

I'm looking for opinions/experiences on an E85 Fuel pump to pontetially replace my weathered dual -044 setup (which is a bit overkill anyway for the HP I'm at). I am concerned that the fuel pumps will fail soon (already had a couple of them stop working) and I would like to setup an in trunk surge tank. What single pump would work for 600whp and also be good for daily use (IE. reliable, not super noisy and not going to put excess heat into my fuel)? The car is daily driven during summer.

Cheers!

I would do a FuelLabs 41402 with installation kit in a custom surge tank and 529 Series Electronic Fuel Pressure Regulators which will electronically add demand based speed control to 41402 pump. This would pretty much be the ultimate E85 single pump setup.

Those are amazing and beautiful components as well but just what you mentioned comes out to over $1k which is a bit excessive for what I'm trying to go for. I'm not trying to cut corners but I feel like there should be other options for considerably less than that.

Eitherway I appreciate your input.

Cheers!

On my car i had a stock sending unit with dual walbro 485's they worked pretty flawless for me and are alot cheaper. I think your best bet is dual if your trying to budget. :icon_tup:

That would be great except its an in-tank fuel pump... :/

And?

Just that I don't have anything setup for "in tank", I was going to setup an external surge tank. I also don't think this will fit inside the OEM in-tank fuel canister from the RX-8 because the bottom is too wide to fit so I'm not sure how I would use it.

Any suggestions?

Surge tanks are also a great alternative for 2015 applications. they seem to be catching on as a trend in magazines with a nice variety thes days. That would work well if you can't use the in-tank method.:)

I was planning on going with a surge tank setup. My question was regarding 1 pump; what single pump could flow 600whp worth of E85 on a rotary that is not in-tank? At this point I am contemplating getting that In-Tank walbro and figuring out how to fit it inside an OEM pump assembly (others have failed so Im not too optimistic).

Anyone else?

Thanks!

the e85 Walbro is probably the biggest mainstream single pump.anything else is going to need a speed controller or voltage booster.
you say you are going to run a surge tank then say you are going to adapt main tank cradle?

wow that's one way to take it I guess.

mearly trying to help him work out a solution and my thinking was based on a rx7 and rx7 fueltank. as I do not know about the rx8 pump cradle I can not comment as to why certain pumps do not fit in cradle/factory rx8 tank. I only clicked when he said he couldn't make the Walbro work intank.

is it not OK for me to have asked application?

Would be nice to see ID's pump finally come to market. Would be a great solution. The one that had at PRI last year was tiny enough it could be an in tank solution for you.

ASNU had a brushless pump at PRI as well that was of similar 600 l/hr volume IIRC. They talked like it was available at the time but I can't find any info. FIC is their US distributor. Maybe give them a call and see what they have.

LOL i guess im just showing my own prejudice against 8's, but after seeing what local shop and world leading rotary LEGEND Xtreme Rotaries is doing with them my eyes have been opened.

What problems were you having and what did you end up switching to? I was looking into getting one myself but Aeromotive themselves say they will burn out without their controller. End of day i couldnt justify the price of both units.
It can be a a struggle finding a single, external option...

paganizondadude 09-17-15 02:16 PM

I run an Aeromotive Eliminator. 1100 lp/h at 40psi. Good with ethanol too.

Grinch 10-18-15 04:01 PM

I have a surge tank with dual 044 in it for my e85 setup.
