A/R .84 or .96
Has anybody had a single turbo setup and changed from point .84 to .96 hotside?
Whilst keeping all the other varuiables the same ie..porting...FMIC etc What differences did you notice? and how great if any were they? |
To change from a .84 to a .96 would usually mean swapping exhaust manifolds as well. This plays a great role in affecting spool-up time as well. Keep in mind, the .84 is usually a divided housing.... while the .96 is an undivided housing.

cheers matey...didn't know that.....so smaller housing and divided at that will mean even quicker spool up?!!!

Yes, it is generally believed that you can go one size up in divided turbine A/R housings to achieve roughly the same spool-up time as a smaller undivided turbine housing. <~~confusing!
For example: Using a 1.00 A/R divided turbine housing could net near-similar spool-up times as using a UN-divided .81 A/R housing. This is assuming you have a nicely designed, and fully divided manifold to take advantage of the divided turbine housing. |
