Quick question on which turbo to go with, PT61, PT58 or Borg Warner 61mm?

Current build, 93 R1 13b street port for normal street use (NOT A TRACK CAR).
HKS Cast manifold
FMIC
Power FC
Extreme fuel system

Which turbo would you go with out of these options?
Billet PT61, PT58 or Borg Warner 61mm extended tip?

What are your power goals?

XLR8 09-18-13 09:45 PM

What fuel?
What are your boost limits?
Water Injection?

here's how they compare:

two turbos have roughly similar compressor sizing

the PT 61 and BW 61

compressor average area square inches

PT 61 6.27

BW 61 6.44

GT 35r for ref 6.386

the PT 58 is a re-designed old school TO4E w a new school billet wheel but is a smaller turbo.

PT 58 5.61

the hot side among this group is where the story is:

PT61 less than a T3 stage 5 wheel which is 5.408

BW 61 6.31

GT 35r 5.171

given the rotary engine's higher exhaust flow per hp the BW, with its larger hotside wheel IMO, easily wins the day.

BTW, there is no BW 61 other than in the eyes of the marketing guys...

BW makes a 60 and a 63 inducer size in the non EFR line.

you are looking for either a BW 177272 which has a straight output nozzle or a 177280 which offers a 90 degree bend towards the front.

good luck,

howard

Low 400's low boost, high 400's high boost

Great info, thanks for the advice. I think the turbo Ray was talking about is the BW AGP S261_RS, that is the 61mm extended tip turbo.
