Pte 6265

I've done some searching around and really haven't found the answer I'm looking for, figured I'd make a thread:dunno:

I have access to a PTE6265 (billet wheel/ball bearing)...I can get it in the .96 T4 hotside. What kind of spool characteristics should I be expecting? Would a .8x hotisde be more desirable? Another concern is the motor, its healthy and has a street port with 3mm 2pc seals, will I run into any problems if I want 450-490rwhp? I don't think I'd have to run too much boost to achieve that, I just don't want to wait till 5k rpm to feel it either.

I'm fresh out of the piston world, so I'm not really sure what is required in terms of having a strong rotary for 'x' amount of power.

I appreciate any help :)

I would not use a turbine housing smaller than a .96 with that big of a compressor wheel. Are those not available with divided turbine housings? I just did a turbine housing swap from open volute ( .96) to a 1.0 divided on a divided manifold and gained 300rpms of " spool ".

I just bought the turbo...it has a .96 housing, I'm going to hunt down a 1.0 divided though, I've heard the same thing from others in terms of going to a divided hotside.

Well, just for reference I had a 62mm Garrett wheel (35R wheel) on an O-Trim 0.84 A/R T4 divided, and it spooled fantastically. I wouldn't go lower than 0.8x but I don't think there is any issues with using it.

Plus, I thought the general rule was that with undivided housings, you can go smaller on the A/R since they don't tend to choke up as much on the top end?

For reference also. I have a pt67 ball bearing turbo 0.81 exhaust with similar engine making 429whp@15psi with sunoco race gas. It should make over 500whp@20psi

I appreciate the info!

I got a package in the mail today. It's an undivided .96 hotside...I will be going to a 1.0 Divided hotside in the future. Ill keep this thread updated with results from this thing.

Good stuff, interested to see the results from a dyno session:icon_tup:

Can anyone confirm that Precision's P-Trim (65mm) is the same as any P-Trim, and the Q-Trim (68) is the same as any Q-Trim? I also want to go divided on my 6768, but they told me that the wheel was different...

ScorpionT 11-03-09 10:26 PM

It is in fact NOT the same. The inducer/exducer dimensions are the same, but it has diffierent aerodynamics. Ill shoot you a PM with some help.

as i remember the Garrett P-trim has 11 blades,, and the PTE has 10 blades, P-trim,, little lighter and more flow up top.

whats the best,, I donno, spool time?
