Proper wastegate size?
I'm just wondering, what is the recommended wastegate size for a TO4E powered 13B-RE making anywhere between 350-400RWHP @ 10-15psi.
thanks. |
It depends a little on what A/R you have on your turbine...but I would say a 45mm valve will do the job!
|
The Tial 38mm or Tial 46mm should do the job quite nicely. Read the "Cheapest Wastegate" thread in this forum for some more info on this kind of thing.

HKS standard 40 mm will due just fine. Unless you plan to push near 600 whp this wastegate will suite you. I've personally seen it work at 560 whp.

However, the Tial 38mm will outflow the HKS 40mm. That is why I mentioned it earlier. Plus when it comes to wastegates, Tial is about the best you'll find. Or that's what my experiences have always been. The HKS is a very nice wastegate too.

Thanks for all the replies guys. The A/R will be 1.00.

The more boost You want to run the smaller the WG needed.

Great info guys, thanks :)
So a 38mm or 40mm wastegate should be optimal for my application? |
Yeah, I'd say go with the Tial 38mm. That should suit your needs perfectly. I know that www.cheapturbo.com had some really good prices on the Tial wastegates. You might wanna check them out. Good luck.

Thanks a lot BoostedRex. And everyone else, you've all been very helpful.

I agree with BoostedRex, the Tial 38mm is probably your best choice. Tial is hands down the top brand, and seeing as this is one of the most critical components in your engine setup, you don't want to cheap out on it.
The HKS 40mm is also a good choice though. |
