progressive boost control?
 

not rx-7 specific, but for a single turbo app., what boost controllers out there is best (in terms of simplicity and cost) for a progressive boost control. meaning staging different levels of boost per rpm or gear.

ive read up on most all the EBCs out there, and think that the AVC-R is about the only one that fits my need perfectly, but looks waaaay too complicated than i want in terms of installation and settings, the profec A is discontinued and doesnt seem like it does the same...tho they say the fuzzy logic learns the boost curve, it didnt say if u can set boost by rpm increments.

i know the profec B is probably the best overall, but as far as i know it only have presets, and u have to manually change the setting. i need something that would hold my boost at like 4psi 2nd gear, then 8psi 3rd, and then 12 for 4th gear without me having to press any switches. (due to traction problems)

is there such a thing? thanks

i thought the profec b had inputs for switching.

alternately, standalone ecus with boost control can do exactly what you want.

my standalone doesnt do boost control.....at least not that i know of....

so i guess ur saying that with a profec B, i can just switch b/t the presets each time i switch gear? if thats the case then i guess i can handle that, just gotta learn how to handle doing all that stuff at the same time

what ecu are you using?

ok, the profec b doesn't, but i'm sure i've heard of an EBC that can do it. I just can't find it right now.

also (and i never thought i'd say this to anyone, period): that's a pretty bad ass probe you've got there. :D your car page is down, what're your mods?

im using SDS (simple digital system)....right now im leaning toward the AVC-R....unless someone can inform me of another one thats cheaper/simplier

The AVCr is a good unit, I have them in my supra, and my 7. It is a little complicated, but what you want to do is complicated, so no matter what controller you end up with, you will need to learn a bit about using it correctly. Carl Byck

what about the newest greddy unit, profec e-01? I think it comes with some other features. Ihavent heared of anybody using it though.

The AVC-R really isn't *that* hard to use. The instruction manual is fairly straightforward. It's just a case of following the instructions.

That said, I have a nearly brand new Apexi AVC-R I just pulled out of my car after upgrading to a TEC 3.
The boost controller was used maybe 2k miles.
