possible to get 380+whp at 12psi..?
i have been looking into maybe getting a bigger single. i was wondering if you can get 380+whp at 12 psi out of the pt turbos, or gt40r. i like the safety of low boost so thats why i am wondering. i have seen some 350's at 12 psi, but looking for more if i decide to switch turbos. i checked out the pt63 and pt66, and they look pretty strong. well any help appreciated. thanks.. btw motor would be mild-aggressive street port.

Ive yet to hear about GT35R problems, so why not go with that, and still keep some good streetability?
Besides, its not boost that kills ya, its knocking. You have a power FC, unless you just boost like a mofo and max out your injectors, I doubt you'll have any problems. And BTW, you could very well do that on either turbo. BTW, how much are you making on your RX-6 right now? |
i like the rx-6 turbo, i run it at 12psi and make 316.7rwhp. with afr's below 10:1 above 6k rpms. its not fully tuned yet. i figure fully tuned i can get 330+whp at 12psi, i like to run low boost because i see knock below 20 at all times. whenever i bring it up above 12.5 psi , the knock gets up to 80. i am thinking going with a larger turbo and making high hp at low boost. i believe ernie t made 370whp at 10psi. if i could make that at 12psi , i would be happy.

I havent really seen that type of power at 12psi, its also depending upon motor, port etc. Also I wouldnt be as concerned about the knock you see above 12.5psi until you get fully tuned....might clean it up a bit

Running lower than 10AFRS above 6krpm, that really kills power. At 12PSI boost, you can safely run 11.5AFRS across the board. A very experineced Porsche tuner that I know, says to lean out AFRS a little pass max torque to help keep power up.
If your knock is 80s at 12.5+psi, you have too much timing! Contact me directly by mail so I can send you my GT35R map for comparison.

get some aggressive/decent trail split timing, pull a/fs in the mid-high 11s. i did 390@13psi on my t70

NXFD down in Texas put down 370rwhp @ 10psi. He's running an aggressive streetport and a GT42R single. I would say that setup at 12psi would be the kind of power you're talking about. But like others have said, your streetability would suffer from such a large turbo.

We ran 409rwhp @ 13 psi on an Innovative gt66 with 1.00 q-trim, also have a standard streetport.

boostedrotor, when do you get full boost? also what gear? i am looking at the pt turbos, but i dont think they come with ball bearings.
|
it really depends on the type of port work you have on your engine. I have a friend who put down 370rwhp+ at only 12psi with a T04s
|
I can hit 13psi @ about 3800 or so, the dyno #'s were in 3rd gear...the dual ball-bearing option is nice....manifold design also has say in this matter...i have a south florida performance tubular one and it's ok...

12 psi 380 to the wheels at a mile high and on a dyno dynamics dyno
|
friend of mine is 420 at 13psi with a street port and a T-60 S5 motor with FD manifold and 520 at 20 psi. He just sold the car too...
