Posible single setup.. will this work..

I was curious if the hks manifold knockoffs would work with a t3/t4 ballbearing turbo?

manifold - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2461169464

Im aware of the cracking with the manifold and will have it beefed up before it goes on the car, im just curious if that turbo will fit that manifold, also what wastegates would fit that manifold, are there downpipes already made for our cars that would fit that turbo? What else would I need to finish fitting to single? I sold my t78 car and got a new twin turbo car..

No it wont work. The turbo has a T3 flange and the manifold a T04 flange (its bigger).

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

damnit.. wishful thinking :)

Godzilla-T78 02-23-04 03:08 PM

is there any manifolds the t3/t4 will work on? that would make a fast spooling turbo..

and would also choke the hell out of your top end. but, the GT35/40R has a T3 footprint.

what about that manifold and this turbo?

anyone?

your best bet is to go with something that works and is proven.. from reading other posts, ebay is not the place to look for stuff to put on your FD.

good luck

and $4000... Id rather stop being a trend nazi and try out some other combos it seams noone else is :/

I've got one of those manifolds on my car. I modified it to accept a tial 46mm wastegate. Cut off the stock wastegate...necked down the pipe...and welded on the tial wastegate. The wastegate is close to the engine mount, but it clears. Maybe 1/2 inch after I bend the heat sheilding out of the way a bit.

I have a to4s on it with a .84 exhaust housing. It is both water and oil cooled. the oil return line is off the front oil return and isn't too big of a stretch. the exhaust housing has quite a bit of clearance to the intake manifold. 1/2 inch?

for the downpipe, I started with a stock twin 3 inch downpipe. with a bit of cutting and fitting...it fit nicely with just a 6 inch section of straight pipe welded in. I did tie the wastegate back in, and managed to do it with a 4 inch flex section in...but it was tight and it comes in at about a 20 degree angle...long weld.

i'm not honestly sure how long it will last, but its a first good start.

the bends are pretty good and the welds aren't as bad as I think people make them out to be. The flanges suck. they are too thin and are quite warped. But they are warped in such a way...that once tightened down...should spring load the flange to clamp the gasket tighter...so...ehhh....

there isn't much more than 1/2 inch between the compressor housing and the frame rail. Im a bit worried how much the engine is going to torque over and smack that...

the car should be running next weekend. I woulda had it done last weekend...but was out of town. I almost had it running sunday night...but at 2 in the morning I learned a bit about pull type clutches as I popped my slave cylinder apart and didn't realize i needed to set the little spring thingie in the clutch for the release fork to engage.

oh yah...and my costs
165ish for the manifold
1050 for the turbo from www.cheapturbo.com with everything(v band, water jacket, welded v band...the works)
455 for the wastegate
120 for the wire/gas to make my mig welder into stainless capable
200 for the used downpipe
120 for the oil/water lines
total: ~2100 for a brand new turbo and wastegate to4s kit.
