polish or chrome compressor housing?

well, i'm going to get my turbo friday and was wondering your thoughts on having the compressor housing chrome plated as to polished. i'm going to send my manifold and turbine housing to HPC for thermal coating(maybe lower intake manifold, too) and since i had it apart.....there's a guy in the next town that does plating and i figured it would look better than having it polished.

thoughts on having the UIM and TB plated, too? disassemble the TB and remove whatever needed from the two. less work afterwards in regards to upkeep and going back over everything with mother's

Personal preference. I had mine polished.

POLISHED! Chrome might retain MORE heat in the compressor housing and Chrome looks RICEY:)

polished, chrome will peel off aluminum after awhile and does retain more heat!

Pretty stuff.

You could go with a cermakrome coating. It looks like polished aluminum, but cleans up much easyer. I got my upper and lower mani's done with this and it takes to aluminum real well and wont flake. Also it will keep heat out of your manifold....if you have cold air going in. I don't know if it would be good for your compressor housing though.

ooooh ooooh. where did you get that service at? that looks pretty good

If you do a www search on cermakrome, you will probably find alot of places that do it....Or you can find a place that sells it and do it yourself for about 1/10th the cost. I did have to smooth out my mani first, but it is just a bake on coating that you can do in your oven.

Have it sanded/smoothed and powder coated. Same as the Cermachrome. Other names are used for it too. Great for high temps!

Then we can call you BLING-BLING-SPOOLIN!

I polished mine, much CHEAPER!

Bad2ndgen, can you give us some more pics? And where did you get it done? How much did it cost? After driving around, have you felt the upper manifold to see it's retaining heat or it it's cool?

Thanks buddy,
Tom
