Pieced Together Turbo Upgrade vs Greddy Turbo Upgrade

i have an 88 10ae that is in need of be rebuilt. i am getting hte engine rebuilt before i get the turbo upgrade. so basically i'm doing all the engine work, 3" turbo back, haltech e6x or e8, walbro fuel pump, e-fan, 720/1600 fuel injectors, plugs, wires, porting before the upgrade is installed with a FMIC. i was looking at the greddy turbo upgrade that includes a 20g and other pieced together kits that use the HKS turbo manifold with t04 flange. i've also seen a pt61-4 configuration that people have used. i want to land my HP around the 400+ mark. what is the max hp that the 20g can support? the greddy is pricey but already together, as the building/piecing together a kit is much cheaper, but more research.... can sum1 plz point my in the right direction?

also would like to get sum info on other manifolds, i've seen others in the single turbo setup thread, but am unsure where to the manifolds.

A "pieced together" turbo setup will obviously allow much more flexibility as far as components, sizes, cost, etc. Sounds like a no brainer to me. It may take a little more research in the beginning and more time to buy/collect parts, but I think in the long run you'll be happier (provided you do good research and buy the correct components for your needs).

Also, keep in mind that you don't have to do this research from scratch...there are people on this forum running all kinds of setups that I'm sure would be more than happy to answer a couple questions about their setup. What I did to begin learning was read this forum a lot to give you an idea of what people run, what works, etc. I see two threads on the first page of this section where people have asked about setups for 400+ hp. A popular choice for 400 rwhp is a 60-1, or you can also go with a number of other setups (though they are usually more expensive) like a PT61, GT35R, etc.

Manifolds can get pricey, especially for a custom stainless manifold. I would recommend the HKS "log" manifold...its pretty cheap, built like a tank, and people have made 500+ rwhp with it. Or you can take your chances with an SS Autochrome (ebay) manifold, but I've heard mixed things.

so... i could do the HKS manifold, with HKS T04S Turbo 60T 0.84 T04? what would i do for piping? also, would band turbo would i run if i got the 60-1?

If you are doing this to save money, don't buy an HKS turbo.

will the Cork Sport Turbo Back work well with this? since i'm using the hks manifold would the flanges match up correctly if using a t60-1?
