Pictures of my Vmount - ApexiGT Intercooler, PSR GT35r Kit
I had a local rotorhead fab this up for me. I am not sure if he's up for more business at the moment so I am going to leave his name out of the thread unless he decides to chime in. This was no easy chore, especially for an intercooler core that is. He had to cut the end tanks, fab all the brackets and ducting, and work with a manifold that sits the turbo much further forward than the majority of the manifolds out there. This thing is solid, doesn't move in the slightest. There are not any clearance issues, all the pipes clear and do not hit anything on the body of the car. Post some feedback! Enjoy

Work was done by Carlos M in Tucson, AZ. He goes by the handle Ikari89 on azrx7.com - I believe he uses a similar handle here.

yup it was me :P
|
Nice work. I used the same intercooler and radiater on my setup.

are you sure thats the same intercooler? because dhahlens looks WAY thicker... i dunno maybe its just the pictures.... in fact that intercooler is by far the thickest one i have ever seen.
the one you used looks about 3 inches thick and dhahlens was at LEAST 5. |
Be careful with angles like that into your endtanks, you may only be using a little sliver of that huge intercooler. I would turn the turbo down and get a 180 into the most back side of the bottom of the endtank. Just my .02 The reason I say so is because my buddy had this problem on the dyno with his stockmount

PSR?!?!! wtf..it is a RPM performance 35r setup..the wastegate is a PSR 45mm. My old setup is starting to look nice.

Thanks, I wanted to get as much air to it as possible. Also being that it was thinner than yours, I was able to angle it more. Actually it is just High temp paint. I didn't have the time to do anything else, when I was getting it ready for a scheduled tune by Steve Kan. |
yeah my core is exactly 5" thick, you can only see half of it.

Blue being current flow, red being what would be ideal? http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...en/airflow.jpg |

When you're pushing 15 lbs of boost it will end up going to the other areas, plus the efficiency of the V-mount will come into play. I drove mine today in 80 F degree weather and my intake temps did not go above 22 C degrees. My water wouldn't go above 80 C either. After a half hour drive home, I opened the hood and the entire IC core and outlet end tank was ice cold. The IC pipe, Greddy elbow and UIM were cool to the touch. |
what core is it? i am trying to decide on a core size for my 20B.
|
that is exactly what im talking about, run it around for a bit and see what kind of power it makes before you start re-engineering that beast.

Dwayne APEXi no longer makes that intercooler, so they are getting harder to come by. People sell them on the forum for around 900-1100 if you can find them. |

oh and the radiator still flows cross like it was originally designed. |
say I were only turn 10psi, would it make a difference then?
|
Coming along nice I see. Nice setup.
|
:P not really, the hot pipe will be fine.

looks good man.

However you did a great job on the IC hotpipe. |

my only dislike is the fact a good size air filter probably won't be abled to be fitted...

yeah it is impossible with that size intercooler and the turbo being that far forward. its a hot air intake. o well thats why that IC is so fucking big right :D.
|
just don't run without any filter...a cool charge won't save the rotor housings

Carlos, mind busting out the measuring tape? LOL |

Figured, 100mm then

Car looks like it's coming along nicely Darren, congrats :icon_tup:
You might want to look into the K&N 'shorty' filter I run, I got it from Gotham. Much better than any foam filter...... |
I wonder if you could squeeze this on there?
Flange Inside Diameter: 3.813 in (97 mm) More info @ http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...Prod=RX-4130-1 http://kandn.com/images/l/RX-4130-1.jpg You probably already know this but here is a good page to use for figuring out what they have. http://www.knfilters.com/search/univ2.aspx?ID=S0013 |
ill get back to you guys later about how much room there is from the front of the turbo to the back of the IC
