Old Garrett m24
This shop I frequent has a turbo sitting on a shelf, the owner said I could have it for $50. I was wondering If it would be rebuilding and using?
The engine is a jspec with sstock ports. Im running a standalone too. But really I just wanna know if it would be worth while to pick up? http://www.flickr.com/photos/wable/7...n/photostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/wable/7...ream/lightbox/ |
Put one finger in front of shaft, 1 finger behind. Does it move forwards and back much?
do the same thing side to side however a little is OK in this direction of movement. Pull the the front and rear housings off and get the calipers out. I suspect you have a 0.96A/R exhaust housing with a p trim turbine ~65mm/74mm on the exhaust wheel. Check the front wheel. Ideally the front wheel will be at least 55mm on the small dimension and 70-76mm on the big dimension. If you can provide accurate information on those details we can tell you the approximate garrett power rating and also what it will make on a rotary. At the glance the compressor wheel looks a little small. Yes you need to pull the housings off. |
Ill check it out tomorrow. The compressor I thought was on the larger size maybe 3in in diameter. That's why I picked it up.

That's a stiff price for a paper-weight. That compressor wheel looks toasty.

I would buy it if it is a ptrim turbine and isnt messed up it worth that just for the turbine housing.

the m24 is a cover used on some to4E with the 65mm compressor
on a P trim with 0.96,1.15 OR 1.32 its known as the t66 and is a 400 rwhp turbo at 1 bar boost |
Well worth to have cleaned and rebuilt

I would but it if you dont
