Oil / water lines. Where do they go?

Hey guys.

Sorry for such a dumb question but...

I have a 93 FD and I just got my GT 35R kit from RX7 store and was wondering which ports on the turbo were for oil and which were for water and which were inlet and which were outlet. Then. Where do those lines connect to the block?

I have done quite a bit of searching and have come accross quite a bit of discussion on restricting the oil inlet. I think I have decided to leave it unrestricted as the GT35R has a built in restictor and to go with the biggest oil return that I can. I just need to know where to hook up the lines.

Any pics would be great.

Thanks so much guys.

the coolant lines comes out from the water pump housing, it doesn't matter how you hook them up to the chra. when you install the turbo, position the chra with the oil return on the bottom, its the largest hole . the coolant fitting will be on the right and left. use silicone hoses for the coolant lines. here is a pic of the oil inlet hose

Where does the oil feed come from and then where does it return to?

After the water comes out of the water pump housing, it goes into the turbo, and then where does it go?

Thanks again.

Yes...I know things are dirty...

The 90 deg bend is the oil feed...

The return is the front return port that the primary twin used. It's the line that's just above the steering rack in the pic.

The water return line is the upper hose in this pic.

This is the supply...

WOW. Fantastic. Thank you very much. That's a huge help.

I take it the water feed is the stainless one with the red A/N fitting on it in the last pic.

I know there is also a place on the passenger's side fire wall side of the block right behind the rear rotar. There's a hole with a short stud above and below it. Is this a return for the rear turbo on a stock twins setup?

I used the nipple that used to go to the TB for the AWS and the return port that was used for the same. of course this only works if you are getting rid of the AWS.

it is not the ss one, that looks like fuel. The water is that 90 degree coming out of the water pump housing with the rubber line on it.

What he said.

I was looking at the car this morning and I can't seem to find where you guys are getting the oil feed. Do you have to remove your power steering and such?

2a+RoN 03-26-05 09:52 AM

if you leave that stock hard line you can take the oil feed from there and you should be able to get to it with ease, otherwise you can take out the hard line and run at the corner of the front plate which prolly would require removing some accessories...

Bodyshop 03-28-05 04:32 PM

Thank you everyone for all of your help. You have been fantastic. Right now I have only one more question and that is: What is the hole on the firewall side of the block, behind and below the exhaust ports. Is this an oil feed/return location? I have the oil and water lines hooked up as described in this thread. Do I have to block this with a plate or anything? I'll take some pics tonight and get them sent up.

Thanks again.

Railgun 03-28-05 04:49 PM

Block it off. It's the oil return port for the secondary turbo.

Didn't your kit come with blockoff plates and instructions???

ghostrx7 03-29-05 08:49 AM

Ya, my kit didn't come with block off plates or intructions. I did buy a seperate blockoff plate kit from RX7store. I used them all and do not have one left over for that one. I guess I'll just make one.

Thanks again everyone.

I tend to agree with this. Has anyone verified this?

I do not have a lot of room to attach the top hose (from water pump housing) to the driver's side of the turbo. It is close to the compressor housing and LIM. I would like to run it over the top of the turbo to the other side and attach it to the passenger's side 90 degree fitting. I would run the driver's side line down (90 degree fittimg pointing down) to the lower housing nipple.

I would appreciate A-Spec's comments on this.

thanks

Thanks again everyone.

The kit should have the oil return block plate with it. If you are missing one let me know and I will send you one. I also have instructions if you need them.

What happens if you use the oil return on the left
side of the motor?

Railgun 04-03-05 08:50 PM

then you have to block off the front one. ;)
