New Owner. Looking for good places to go

So I am a new owner of an FD. I have an sti back in the states but I wanted something new and the RX7 has always had my interest. I am stationed in iwakuni with the Navy and am waiting for my car to be shipped from Tokyo. No engine work has been done and always garage kept. Perfect body and internals are in excellent condition. I'm looking to go single turbo, possibly a GT35r. With an HKS Ti turbo back and a front mount. I need some adive on EMS and any small things I should look into doing for performance on rotary since I have never touched one yet. I need good shops around Hiroshima iwakuni area, preferably smaller ones that take their time and will allow me to be hands on with everything so I can learn from the best. It's just difficult for me to get much time in a garage because I do not have a house here like I did back in the states. Thanks for your time everyone and thanks ahead of time for all the great info I'm sure I will be getting!

Well Thanks for what you do...But seeing the Forum is more US based than anything you may have to tough it out finding your shops.

I'd see if there is a Rotary Scene over there or visit the "famous" RHD Japan" website..

You're sitting on a gold mine of bling..haha..Most of us would be shopping for parts for the car!..but have to do it online..since we are here!

Most shops are not going to allow you to work, or learn as they work on your car in my experience.

You might want to try posting here;

If you are looking for a turbo systems, or EFI have a look at our site;

If you have any questions on the above, feel free to PM me.

You shouldn't have any problems getting high quality aftermarket parts, which is nice. Most shops over there are familiar with Apexi PowerFC based on my Hot Version research :)

I don't know specifically where any of these shops are located in relation to where you are based but the most well known rotary performance shops would be RE-Amemiya, Fujita Engineering (FEED), Pan Speed, Knightsports, R-Magic are the ones that I have heard of/seen.

One thing to keep in mind, and please, please, hear me out... Understand that chances are you will NOT be able to ship this car back to the US with you!! Even if when you PCS the car meets the importation year requirements you will still likely NOT get TMO to move it for you!

So be aware that there is a strong chance that any money you pour into the car will likely be wasted. I speak from similar experience... When I was stationed in the UK I saw several young Sailors/Airmen who bought Skylines and the like and absolutely loved the shit out of them, but were less than pleased when it was time to transfer back and the car had to stay. Hell, I bought my FD in the US just before I moved there and even I had to jump through hoops to get my USDM rx-7 shipped home with me because I had modified it while I was out there!!

I'm not sure of your rank or anything, so please forgive me for making an assumption here, but you may want to run your plans past your LPO as a sounding board (unless they're a dick, then pick some other super salty mentor type to weigh in on good idea/bad idea options).

Also, a well build twin turbo FD can also be incredibly fun... No need to drop $10k+ on going single when you can do plenty of damage with under 350whp :icon_tup:
