New GT35/40 manifold(pics)

Here are some pics of the redesigned GT35/40 manifold, please keep in mind this is just the mockup made for the jig so ignore any imperfections at the moment, there are many reasons I wound up going this way with it,it's not what I originally intended but I will say it is as close to meeting all the goals I needed to meet (ie. I didn't really give up one thing to meet another) is it perfect, no, it as close to equal length as you could get and still be able to fit both the turbo's I'm going to use it for, it can be made out of forged stainless elbows or mild steel and coated whichever you prefer, it can run one large wastgate or two small ones, if you feel like paying for it.Let all the critics say what they want, but hopefully they keep in mind they asked for a better manifold so I gave them one.

looks good :) will people who currently run the *old* style one be able to *upgrade* to this or will they only be sold w/ a complete kit? just asking, beause i am sure other people would like to know. ;)

A-Spec Tuning 09-10-03 01:22 PM

Not really, unless they buy a new DP as well.

Will this change the existing location of the turbo compare to the older manifolds? How are you planning on mating it with intercooler pipes if it is in a different location? Are you also offering an up pipe to go from the compressor outlet to mate with the intercooler inlet? Say for a Greddy 3 Row?

Looks nice though.

Yes it will change the location, think of it as a low mount style like the HKS only this one is equal length and larger diameter. It may include the elbow.

Looks good, shame it wont fit a UK/Euro model FD.

yeah, i understand that. it is obviously shorter than the old one and therefore would require a new DP... but i was just asking. didnt know if it/they were able to be purchased seperatly. ;)

A-Spec Tuning 09-10-03 04:19 PM

I would be willing to sell them separately to those thst already purchased the kit from us, I'm not sure if I will sell just the manifold and DP separately yet I would prefer to sell the whole thing as a package.

ive seen the manfiold up-close and its a great peice ... every pipe is as equal as posssible... all the legs are the same pieces left to right

CCarlisi 09-10-03 07:05 PM

That looks amazing. I'm really impressed that you guys went the extra mile to revise the original design. It speaks volumes for the pride your shop puts in its work.

A-Spec Tuning 09-11-03 07:23 PM

Believe it or not I truly like trying to make people enjoy their car the way I enjoy mine, so pride is behind most of what I do, and thanks I'm glad to see it get noticed.

Big round of applause!

I can't wait!

:D

A-Spec Tuning 09-11-03 10:37 PM

I don't think the airpump would fit, haven't really looked at it though, and no need for applause, just doin my job;)

Nuvolari 09-12-03 01:30 PM

wow, that looks so sweet ....nice job . Thanks for the advice on the phone last week Sean, it sounds and looks like the best kit out there .I hope you can take my order next week, even if its a month before they are shipped it looks worth the wait

hondah8er 09-14-03 09:34 AM

Price?

ZoomZoom 09-14-03 10:53 AM

Of all the guys I have Delt with A-spec is at the top of my list. Its great to see people will go the extra mile to make a good product even better. I just wish i lived closer to them. Add me to the list of guys who want the new Manifold/DP/FMIC Pipe.

Also will it be cermaic coated and Wastegate Plumbed like my existing Kit?

silverrotor 09-14-03 11:07 AM

She bangs.:D Nice craftmanship.

racerxrx7 09-15-03 09:40 AM

Excellent work

Maybe after you sell some kits you'll be able to sell some of those manifolds and downpipes by itself. It looks like the placement is alot better, I like were it sits on the engine. Good job.

Why wouldn't it fit a euro model?

Mr. Stock 09-15-03 01:36 PM

I bought my kit from RPM Performance but I would be interested in the manifold and a downpipe especially if the manifold can work with a Tial wastegate.

I'm sure the steering rack/pump etc. would get in the way.

a ? from a single turbo newbie. Why isnt ALL the exhaust gas routed into the turbo?

wastegate

carx7 09-16-03 05:18 PM

All the gas does go to the turbo initially. The WG opens and bypasses the turbo when the desired boost is reached... this is how the boost is regulated. If the exhaust always went through the turbine you'd see infinite boost (theoretically anyway)
