my hks t04r just went give me an idea on what my next turbo should be

so i blew my engine and turbo is shot. its sitting at steve kans shop. i need some ideas o what turbo i should get. i had 395 hp with that setup and im looking for 450+.. steve is upgrading the fuel system to 850 and 1600 injectors and the engine is a street port. i hated having to wait till 4500rpms to build boost with the t04r, i want something that will spool faster yet be large enough for some big power. let me know some realistic figures of course. im not wealthy lol

That turbo should have spooled quicker than 4500 also you could make 450 on a t04r however these are considered older tech. turbos the newer being gt turbos like the gt35/35r and the gt40/40r etc... etc... If you are looking for 450hp you could go with an Aspec 500r which to my knowledge is equivalent to a gt35r but has a higher hp potential.

Aside from that turbo I've seen a gt35/35r and gt40/40r turbo reach those goals, I've got a t70 that reached that goal, I've seen plenty of bullseye turbos reach that goal along with lots of other turbos. Also steve is a good source of info, you should ask him what he recomends.

Move to a BB To4R(To4Z). A fresh engine is going to help spool too...

I am very happy with my 35r. Very quick spool 3500 rpm, I rarely feel like I am waiting on the turbo except on some tight auto x courses. I don't know HP yet (only road tuning). I have owned and ridden in large turbo cars and wanted to avoid the lag as much as possible. I am also thinking about a v mount to reduce the lag even more.

the 500R is similar to the T04R in size. I wouldn't be surprised if they are the same wheel, or very close.

if you want something that spools significantly quicker you are going to have to go smaller. GT35 is smaller.

nothing is easy on a rotary!

I'd say GT35R if you want just shy of 500whp, a few people have seen 500 but not that many.

If you want a little more, go with the Precision Billet 6262 in BB. it's a bit pricier, but spool will be about the same as a 35R, and it'll give you a little more room up top.

As for meth, if you're going all out, FJO is the way. if you're just looking to spray some meth in the air stream, go with an alkycontrol system, or even aquamist.

35R or Precision 6262. If you want even quicker spool, get a divided housing and manifold to match.

I bought the coolingmist trunk mount kit. I am very happy with it. The install was easy and the capacity is perfect for street use. I can probably do 2 or 3 auto x's before filling the tank. I also bought the flow indicator which can alert you to a clogged filter or nozzle. Howard Coleman has a huge thread on AI.

when should i expect the gt35r or precision 6262 spool with a street port and front mount? seems like everyone likes those 2 turbos.

water doesn't net you horsepower, no matter where you inject it. Like I said, some people have made over 500whp with them (TurboR1 for example) but they are completely strung out. It's an efficient 450 whp turbo.
