My first ever dyno session. Self tuned 423rwhp at 18psi.
Got on the roller today for the first time. My initial power was 325, much lower than i expected. I quickly realised part of the reason why the output was so low. The boost had fallen lower than where it supposed to be. I think the main cause was the ambient temperature. Dyno was done today in 98* daylight atmosphere, outdoors(drive on dyno). My street tuning was always done at night time in cool 78* conditions.
After 3hrs of tuning and after 22 dyno pulls, I was up to 423rwhp at about 18psi. This was on 93pump and water compressed by a GT4094R. The operator says that this output is not bad for the boost pressure. I see people here claiming 400 plus at 15psi. I had to end my session due to a dead battery causing my fuel pumps to run slow and lean AFRs. Had this not happen, I would have tuned it to about 23psi and alot closer to mt target of 500rwhp. What do you think of my cars performance and do you think I could reach 500rwhp at 23psi? |

In this case I would say the operator knows his dyno pretty well. On this forum there are certain dynos people take their car to that tend to produce rather optimistic numbers, and they are not just dynojets...
Have you really driven it yet with this tune? I bet under a lot of conditions it's all over the road when you get on it... very easy to kill yourself. Try driving it for a month or two without dying. Try taking it on some back roads while trying to keep the car from getting away from you. Try hitting it on an onramp without causing a 15 car pileup when you merge. Always maintain a healthy a fear of the vehicle. After a while it's easy to forget how fast it is and how dangerous. |
Good job. Ya 500 hp is cool and all but its just a lot more tire spin on the street, but It's good for the track with slicks.

congratulations on your accomplishment. i am especially impressed w your rally from 325 and the fact you did it yourself. i really agree w the above post that you might do yourself a favor by just driving the car for a while... you have close to 500 fwhp and the car should fly. you will learn just from the process. what do you have on your car? do you have a dyno sheet? howard |
3 hours and 22 pulls and a battery going dead; took way too long and the alternator can not do its job?

No I have not put it on the road yet. Spent most of today looking over my logs in order to make some subtle changes to my fuel and ignition maps. I also just got through re-welding a exhaust suspender that got loose while mounting the dyno(hell of a time getting on it since my car is lowered). Yea I have always realised my FD is not a toy and I dont direspect it at all. I would like to post the dyno sheet here, but not sure how to do it. Maybe someone can explain. Oh yeah, after looking at the actual graph again today the car made 422rwhp and not 423 as posted above :) |

if you have the winpep software...
channge the X line to RPM... also it is pretty unreadable i guess due to size. i blew it up in pictures edit and lost most of the resolution.. but it is a start!:) |
EGT's: I thought I should mention what I observed with EGT during my tuning session. The maximum I saw on my digital gauges was 1590 on the rear rotor. I was getting 1680F during street tuning :confused: but :)
