I need something like this but what I have found so far isn't even close.

Thanks in advance.

Chris

I got them from a local shop here in sweden!

you should be able to find equal in your country...

or else i could send you some bends

Lasse wankel 12-19-08 05:30 PM

Looking really good Gustav! Now we will have 2 more wastegates marks on the floor in the dyno room:lol: Not to speak about the sound when the 2 opens:icon_tup: Should be a nice hearing for the neighbours:Wconfused

looks great! but one question, why is the one dump tube going up and over the other when it looks like it could just go down? or is the subframe in the way?

Yes there was no room for it to go the same way.

I will take a picture when its on the car, then you'll see :)

most of it is finished, got all the parts on coating now, because of christmas and new year everything takes extra time :hahaha:

within a few weeks ill get her on the dyno and then we'll see how much boost i dare to run

gusfd3s 01-02-09 05:04 PM

gaaah... can't make up my mind whether to make a new 4" full exhaust or staying with my old 3".... feels wrong to stay 3" but i don't want to make my ears bleed more than they do when im out criusing..

What to do?

ZAN_TUNING 01-02-09 05:25 PM

i've done a couple full 4" exhaust on bridgeports and it really wasn't that bad! :D

as long as there are no exhaust leaks and the muffler exit a little past the bumper it wont resonate and drone inside the car. Outside..... that's another story but who cares!?!?!?!! hahaha

silvr94r2 01-02-09 08:29 PM

Great lookin project you got goin there!!! Makes me wanna get out and work on mine....now if i can just get some money to finish it :( lol

Cant wait to see how your setup works. I've got a very similar setup ;) I mean....VERY similar!!

Also what kind of TB are you using? I love your welding, and your setup is godlike to me. I hope to build my car just like you did :)

What to do?

Yes, I agree that it seems wrong to choke the 4" down to 3". If you want to maintain the surface area of a 4" pipe without all the noise, consider running a pair of 3" pipes. The area will be slightly more so you'll have similar flow (or better), and the noise reduction will be better than you can achieve with a 4" pipe.

It looks great!

so many forklifts LOL!!! i love it!

gusfd3s 01-18-09 11:01 AM

just did some dyno pulls and the car put down 595whp@22-22.5psi, peak hp at 7160rpm, having some problems with boost, it wont hold up.

Ill post some logs for you when i get home and maybe some of you gurus can help me out :)

i just passed 100+ dyno pulls with this engine :)

Ok, here are a log from one pull.
green line = boost (in bar)
red line = backpressure (in bar)

As you see im losing boost... is the backpressure causing this?
im using the small valve seats (28mm) and their 60lb/inch spring (the hardest one)
It is set up like this (http://synapseengineering.com/smf/in...d57&topic=97.0

Im also using a HKS HVC (IV) boost controller, i can't say im very familiar with it.

Oh, im still one the 3" exhaust.... :/

enzo250 01-18-09 01:19 PM

I don't have any experience with your wastegates so i have no clue about them...

I would try disconnecting them and setup some sort of boost limit on your ecu or stay very alert and watch the boost and see if you can get more boost without it falling off..

I don't believe you have to much backpressure. you have roughly 28psi back pressure with 22.5psi boost. That's not bad at all...

Thanks for input..

i've got some more combinations to try on the wastegates, they've got some kind of internal boostcontrol letting you choose different ports for different boost. Ill try the highest setting and just run it on the springs..

sk8world 01-18-09 02:00 PM

please post up what you find out with the differant combinations on the gate as I am running the same and getting ready to turn the boost up for tuning....

turboR1 01-18-09 04:41 PM

595 at 22psi.. Nice she is on her way ! Cant wait to see the 30psi pull. 675hp I hope woot :)

gusfd3s 01-19-09 06:16 AM

Sent a mail to synapse, got a fast reply.

"Gustav, sounds like you are overwastegating. I'll look at the logs when I get back to the office.

Peter

Sent from my iPhone
"

i guess this means that the valves can't keep closed?

I had a feeling your wastegates were the problem...

gusfd3s 01-19-09 11:51 AM

better boost today but the turbo went bye bye.............. whats next?

dregg100 01-19-09 12:24 PM

like your brand new turbo went out?

gusfd3s 01-19-09 01:21 PM

Yes, something like that....

i got big endplay in all directions so my guess is bearing failure?

the question is... i have one more unit, is it worth trying?

Turbodriven 01-19-09 01:34 PM

Hmm appears to be losing boost at the end of the pull. Does appear to be backpressure maybe blowing the gate open. Does your unit have the 96mm turbine wheel and 1.32A/R housing?? Most of the cars I have worked on with that turbo don't have much of a problem. Also have you got a restrictor on the oil inlet on the turbo?? I have worked on 2 FD's running Borg 475's that ran restrictors...killed the turbos less then 100 miles. Borg's like plenty of oil...
