This is a general question but i wonder how does 300 ftlbs at 3200 rpms compare to the following
- Stock seq
- 99 twins
- 20b with a medium sized turbo
- Stock LS1

We must all be getting old.... I find myself very curious about making "quiet" power as well.

I was only able to get 238 ft-lb on stock twins @ 12 psi with an aggressive street port (which probably hurts torque). 300 is really good for a rotary, and that low in the revs. I'm guessing a 20B NA may come close and an LS1 can blow it away

In all reality I'm still salty about the time I wasted buying a 9180 from your original claims 2 years ago then realizing it would never spool like advertised. I don't want to dig up old threads unless you want me to so I'll leave it at that.

In fairness I have attached the finished tune on 22psi with 93 pump gas and water/meth. The graph posted in my first post was from the first few pulls above 16psi with water/meth turned on. No doubt if we could have gotten it to hold 25-26psi we would have been right there at 500rwhp on stock ports. Either way 300 ftlbs at 3200 rpms is incredible on a 2 rotor setup and retaining a 750 rpm idle is a huge plus.


Is there some specifics you could offer? like claims vs what occurred IRL?

Racing beat dual tip is not near as quiet as the original Greddy SP. The RB duals drone like crazy too during cruising. I'm more picky then most though.

Just to clarify I currently own both setups. A 35r with resonated midpipe and RB duals and the car is this thread. The RB duals are noticeably louder.

All the info is in old threads. This whole turbo line is insane on 2 Rotors and I don't want that getting lost in this thread. I knew what performance I wanted down low and bought the 9180 on good faith. Numbers never did back it up. Still smokes every other comparable size turbo for spool though without question. I'll very likely go with the 9180 when I switch things up.

Brand new OEM 550 primaries/new ID 2000s and AEM Smart Coils.

You would have to find dynos at similar boost levels. Probably be easier to use the 15psi graph turblown posted to compare. It's easily more torque across the midrange than the stock or 99 twins. I'd love to see someone dyno a 9180 on a 3 rotor as I still believe that would be an incredible setup. LS setups will easily make more torque across the majority of the powerband, especially down low.

The car went from making 250 whp, at maybe 9psi (stage 2 ish hybrid type turbo) ON A COLD DAY, for over 10 years, to making over 500 at about double the boost. It had absolutly nothing to do with improper tuning. As he said the engine was torn down and no damage was found at all beyond the cracked rear plate. I can show you the reciept. The only thing rob replaced were the side seals, coolant seals, and oil control rings from usual wear. Everything else was perfect.

I was in the dyno room and I also got to drive it around for about 2 weeks before we were on the dyno fine tuning it. The response literally shocked me. It was beyond what i expected. My FC would easily walk away from my M4 now. It would spin the tires at 50-60mph in 3rd or 4th gear when I stabbed the throttle. The engine failure was not Elliots fault at all, if anything it was mine for not know what kind of rear iron I had. People that blame thier builders and tuners for things that technically are not thier fault is the reason it's so hard to find good ones.

The ONLY thing that cracked that iron was the internall compression and combustion pressures from making that kind of power on a standard FC rear plate.

Further, even though i never blamed him, elliot had the wastegate ported and extrude honed for me, FOR FREE, as a customer satisfaction measure.

That's strange. The REV-TII full exhaust has no drone at all and i can carry on a normal conversation in the cabin at 3k rpm on the freeway as if it was a lexus.

You want quiet and no drone? Fujitsubo Legalis-R. Nice low RPM sounds that isn't that loud, no drone at all and a pretty good rasp up top whilst only topping out at 95 db on a static test with a high flow cat. Was quieter with the stock cat but don't know the exact db.

What engine mounts are you running? I noticed on my mostly stock FD a much stronger resonance/droning with urethane mounts on the RB dual tip vs with stock mounts.

It has two mufflers and Y pipe compared to the FD's single exit. That definitely affects it.

I wouldn't have thought about engine mounts and the exhaust drone, but you are absolutely right.

Exhaust drone is caused by a harmonic resonance between at least two steady frequency sounds. It can be exhaust and tires, wind noise (sunroof or window usually), tire noise or chassis noise/vibration.

Stock mounts(both steel arms) and Banzai Crossmember on my car personally. Ill try to shoot a vid of the this car(8374/resonated/Greddy SP) running next to my other FD with 35R/resonated/RB duals one day this week. It is a night a day difference at idle how much more quiet the SP exhaust is compared to the RB Duals.

Ended up at 462/400 on pump/water meth at 21-22psi and 400/321 on 15.5 psi and no water/meth. I picked the car up last Thursday and put about 30-40 miles on it this weekend. Throttle response is insane and at 21-22psi its pretty damn quick. The car has about 100 other things I need to fix and it needs to head to paint soon as well. Unfortunately, its not even close to top priority at the moment.

A while ago I got the Banzai transmission crossmember for my car to reduce shifter moment. The one with the energy suspension bushing. I have stock engine and differential mounts along with the racing beat dual tip exhaust. Just putting on the transmission cross member noticeably increased the cabin noise and I ended up selling it. I would take the crossmember off and drive around to see if it quiets things down.

Did you try to swap it for the rubber bushing rather than the poly one? There was a thread not too long ago about using an OE bushing from autozone that fits with that mount kit and quiets it down further.
