master power turbos and turbine housings.

I've been talking to these guys http://www.wwrturboinjection.com/ about what housing i need to fit since my on center housing doesn't work (hits the fraim rails). well they say the only thing that works with the mp turbos are the euro housings witch are t4 but have a differant bolt pattern on the intake side that would need to be re drilled. I don't really understand this being that I have an airesearch housing on there right now. Can anyone with a mp turbo tell me what housing they have on it. Thanks for any info

I had a garrett .84 housing (now for sale) which was on mine before a changed it to a MP 1.00 housing either MP/turbonetics or garrett rear housings should be fine

Whizbang 07-26-06 01:09 PM

my master power is new but i would still have to get it rebalanced when i change the housing? the .84 is a wee bit small.

hondahater 07-26-06 01:30 PM

so what are the specs of the housing that I'm looking for? I mean I guess there is a housing that bolts on and then the mp uses other kind correct? I guess thats the only way it really wouldn't fit.

Well if the turbine wheel is a P-trim, then any p-trim housing will fit.

RacerXtreme7 07-26-06 02:21 PM

There are several styles of housings that fit a P-trim turbine on any Garrett t3/t4 clone type turbo. Theres open valute t3 style inlet flanges, t4 open, t4 divided, euro flanged T4, and a bastard t3 bolt hole foot print with a divided bigger then t3 inlet, yet smaller then t4 inlet flange. Your going to want a T4 flange, and dependant of your manifold type, your choice is .81 and .96 for open valute, or .84 and 1.0 for divided valute (none of this recommended .86 or 1.04 etc made up BS that others seem to think exist in a T4 turbine). Any damn t4 foot print p-trim turbine will work be it from Innovative, Turbonetics, Garrett, Master Power, turbo XS (cringe) PT, etc etc ETC ETC. .81, .96, .84, and 1.0 t4 turbines are so damn common and cheap there a dime a dozen to come buy. Look here, or other rx7 forums and there ALWAYS on ebay, and if not just the turbine, I've seen turbos with these sized turbine housings go for $150 or less, so get the whole turbo and sell the remaining parts of it.

NO, no re-balancing is required when you swap housings. Only replacing wheels sometimes a re-balance is needed though I'd recommended it.

so if i have a master power (t3) .84 divided and i go to a 74 1.0 divided, does the wheel have to be changed too?

No, As long as the housing fits P-trim wheels, its more of a name for the size of the back wheel. they're all interchangeable as long as they fit p-trim wheels.

thanks guys. If anyone watch has one I will pay cash money for it :) going to check ebay now......again.....

hi Hondahater, Is the oncenter .96 garrett housing that i sent you creating problems?

I can send you a mp1.00ar that will work if you need.

hm i think it would be cheaper to source one of those cast trust greddy manifolds to work with your .96 oncenter housing. and just ditch the ss autochrome manifold.

give me a pm if your stuck.

Turblown 07-26-06 05:15 PM

Why would anyone make accomodations to use an inferior turbine housing design?

hondahater 07-26-06 06:51 PM

hey whats up bobybeach! I wouldn't mind going 1.00 but that would still require me to get a divided manifold and I'm really hell bent on running a .96. If you have any .96 tang housings i don't mind buying it from you or anyone for that matter. I'm just having a hard time finding them. Thanks for responding man.

hondahater 07-26-06 09:18 PM

anyone at all? Got cash in hand :)

Turblown 07-26-06 11:22 PM

I have a lot of Garrett housings in stock, what do you need?

hondahater 07-27-06 01:42 AM

a .96 tang that will fit on a master power t61 with a ptrim wheel.

The SSAutoCraper manifold is a stainless copy of the HKS and GReedy style manifolds. If he got the HKS or GReedy manifold, the On-center housing still will create fitment problems. There are no production manifolds for Rx-7's that incorporate the inferior On-center turbines.

A 1.00 turbine is DIVIDED, he's running a non divided manifold and should get a matching open valute turbine for it.

He needs a T4, p-trim, .96 A/R tang turbine housing.
