maf question.
i dont know if i am going to sound dumb for asking but i am doing a turbo swap in my 86 base right now and i was looking at some pics of intercooler setups and just noticed on some of them that a couple were not running maf sensors. am i blind and just caant see them or are they just not there, and if they are gone why?

what kind of intercooler setups? thers 2 reasons for this
a..if they are running a standalone with a aftermarket turbo theres no need for a maf sensor or boost sensor or any of that b...they just have it hidden and it dosent show in the pic |

If you are just swapping in a basic turbo engine you need to retain the airflow meter. You can only eliminate it with a standalone EMS such as Haltech, Microtech, Megasquirt, or Power FC. The stock AFM is restrictive and causes plumbing headaches, but I've seen dynos in the low 300 range on them using the Rtek 2.1 ECU upgrade.

so if running lets say the Haltech E6k, there would be no need for the AFM? what would happen if it was a "blow-through" set up?aka in-line with the intercooler piping..oh and the 2nd gens dont have MAF its AFM's. guess theres a big diff from what i hear.
Just get some coin saved an get standalone |
