Largest wastegate that fits a Tial 44mm inlet flange?
 
What’s the largest WG that will fit on a Tial V44 v-band inlet flange? I am
having trouble keeping my boost down with my current set-up and need
to make a change, but I’d like to not re-weld anything to manifold
just yet to accommodate a larger WG if I don’t have to.


I was thinking of a JGS 50mm. does switching from a 44mm to a 50mm WG really make that much difference in controlling boost?

Are you sure it's an undersized wastegaet? Turn off the boost controller. Does it still creep? What spring do you have?

Check your WG line ID? It should be at least 6mm if possible run .25" Some people are running too small a WG line from what we've seen. The problem with running a bigger gate on the same outlet flange is you're still using the same diameter outlet on the manifold. It may help a bit but not as well as if you had the matching WG inlet flange. If everything is good you shouldn't really need a larger gate. We had cars running the older 46mm gates which actually flowed less and had no issues. Gates that should work on there are synchronic, JGS, and Precision if memory serves correctly.

I have a 13lb spring and when I run straight off the WG (boost supplied from directly after the compressor housing) I get about 16 lbs. I have checked and re-cheked everything... I even tried a 10lb spring and got about 14 lbs of boost, but the WG opened at about 7lbs which I didnt like. The only thing I can think of is the WG is too small for my set-up:

Large SP motor (very large ports), GT3574 (1.06 I believe), A-spec long runner manifold, full exhaust.

I know people have had no problems with similar set-ups, but Im out of ideas of how to solve the creep.

I'm running 6 right now, but I can try a .25" line - that's easy enough. I figured it would help a ton, but maybe that's all I need.

Has anyone tried to switch from a 44mm to a 50mm - was there much difference?
