kkk vs t51r

yo guys iam going single and i was planning on getting the kkk, but now i have been reading a lot on the t51r, so what do u gurus think is a better set up oh and iam also should i go with a bridge port or street port????

razorback 02-07-04 03:12 AM

the t51 is nice if you can afford it. i would really like to have on on my half bridge fc. but they are really really expensive. so if you got the money go with the t51

RETed 02-07-04 05:21 AM

Just saying "KKK" doesn't tell us anything.
"KKK" is a manufacturer of turbos, and you're asking us to compare an entire manufacturer of turbos compared to another specific model?

i personally dont like the set of "kkk" but maybe thats a black thing.

siphanracing 02-07-04 05:06 PM

iam talking about the blitz kkk stage 2

siphanracing 02-07-04 05:09 PM

does anybody in here actualy have the t51r if so what kinda #'s r u putting out, and will it take a supra with a to4r wit 625rwhp??

villision 02-07-04 05:49 PM

If you setup is done correctly it should spank that to4r supra in the quarter...easily...however..on the freeway is a different story...should be close on free way...

Scott from columbus...supposedly 850 horese...ran 11.9..hua...400 14.1...you get the idea.

Blitz? SR Motorsports sells Holsets he labels KKK. They make good power but the longevity is in question. I drove a Stage II car that made 442 rwhp on pump and over 500 on race fuel. The car ran good, very little lag. The car had a large streetport.
Today I drove a T-78 car on a stock block. Ran ok but loud as hell and it needs to be tuned. Once it is tuned it will run well, even on a stock motor.

The name stood for the founders of the company:  Kuhnle, Kopp & Kausch.
They have changed the name to "KKR" to be PC, but the old moniker is still being used till this day.

I would not worry to much about Supras they have issues they need to resolve mainly traction problems they never want to hook up and if they hook up on there launch they bog out bad seen it many times 3rd gen supras have better luck depends on year of supra and tire running temp outside hot day you might have a problem but on any given day anyone can lose.

Pressurized 02-08-04 02:05 PM

the T51 is mainly for a drag setup, it can make real big numbers, but daily driving IMO would be out of the question, the response just isn't there, i would rather have something that spools fast .

as for the port, just as it sounds a "streetport" is much more "streetable" than a "bridge", again if this is a daily driver stay away from the bridgeport.

siphanracing 02-08-04 08:25 PM

thanks for the advice, but has anybody used the kkk, cause i hear some good things and some bad things but no real experience wit da setup...

Look 5 posts up...

Sponge Bob Square Pants 02-09-04 12:54 AM

I've heard great things about both the T51 and comparable KKK turbochargers.

Over 600 rwhp can be make with a T51 on a semi-bridgeported 13B. (That's on a couple examples I can think of, don't know others using the T51)
Remeber, there is the Kai and SPL versions. (BB vs non-BB)

BoostedRex 02-09-04 02:00 AM

The difference between the Kai and the SPL is not BB vs. non-BB. The SPL has a bigger compressor wheel and is trimmed differently than the Kai. Plus the standard Kai comes non-BB. You have to pay EXTRA to get the BB option on the Kai. Just wanted to throw that in so that there's no confusion.

Oops, thanks for the correction bud.

BoostedRex 02-09-04 11:05 AM

Glad that i could be of help for a change. :)
But for specifics, the T51 Kai runs a 92mm or 93mm compressor wheel while the SPL runs a 102 or 103mm compressor wheel making it pretty damned big!

94.0mm compressor for T51R Kai (BB).
102.2mm compressor for T51R Kai SPL (BB).

I'm running a SR stage II. Its untuned, but feels like it spools like my old non-seq twins did down low. In around a month or so, I'll be doing some low boost dynoing. I'll post the results. CJ

Xcessive 02-09-04 08:55 PM

CJ By low boost do you mean like 20psi? Just kidding, we wont go above 19! Ralph

pp13bnos 02-09-04 09:08 PM

What I meant by low boost was, as much boost as I could get until 100% duty cycles on my 850/1300 setup!

Ahhh hell Ralph, you know me. I'll get there saying 10-12psi will be fine. By the time we're done, it'll be 17psi!:D You know...for those times down at the drag strip.

CJ

Thanks again Ralph for doing the RPNW dyno day.

Xcessive 02-10-04 01:13 AM

No prob, had fun

Thanks for the correction Ted. I knew I was somewhere close. I didn't know that they were offering the SPL in BB format now though. That's kick ass. How long has it been on the market?

Zach

RETed 02-10-04 03:37 AM

From the HKS release info on their website, it's been like half a year so far.

Damn, you were close though!

the kkk is a nice turbo and it will outlast the car but you wont make much power out of it. you have to go over 15 psi to make over 400rwhp. i know that jeasuscookies has that on his car and he loves it. it spools up really fast.
