Intercooler question
Ok, I sold my intercooler to zooq here on the boards and im currently waiting on my new intercooler to arive. If i was running extreame low boost *4psi* which is when my boost controler is turned all the way down. Would running without a intercooler be to hot of air on my inlet temps? Or what pressure does a intercooler really come into play?

With as delicate as a rotary is, I would never risk running without an intercooler. That is just way too big of a risk with detonation and all. Plus, why would you want to run without it? Were you thinking of running some type of bypass setup for it or what??

I wont have my intercooler to late this week and my rx7 is my daily driver ;) I guess Ill just put a filter on the elbow and run it na baby bwahah

it would be fine at 4 psi,
check out the first gen section. 680wrhp12a just posted his lateset build of a non intercooled 13b. Hes done a few like that. |
yeah actually a friend of mine....(old schooler)...always ran blow thru setups direct to the manifold....no intercooler....and his worked fine....and he ran more than stock boost too!!

I wouldn't risk it. Just run it NA.

running it n/a can fuck up your turbo. overspins it.

why would you sell your intercooler on your daily driver, if you didnt have another intercooler ready to put in? makes no sence to me. if you run it NA i suggest you take it easy with it.

I must not be thinking about this right. Explain to me how not boosting or running with the intake unpressurized (N/A) would "over spin the turbo"? Wouldn't a car that is just running on exhaust that is not sped up just simply spin the turbo neutrally?
Here is how I am thinking about it. The inducer not causing the air density to increase, not increasing the speed of the propeller shaft and the two wheels thus you would get less Rpms by the turbo itself. Just wondering, I have a feeling I am missing something simple though. Garrett |
