Hybrid woes

Car mentioned is a s4 87 turboII on stock ports. And YES the wg is ported (to 37mm :))

So heres the story. A while back I got the bright idea to build a hybrid with a t04e 57 trim compressor. I bought a complete used dry center t04e 57 trim with an unknown turbine a/r and swapped the compressor with my ht18 and have since been having a host of problems. During mock up I discovered that the compressor housing does not clear the intake manifold and through some measuring I figured I would have to add a spacer in between the stock manifold and rotor housings that is 3/4" thick (18mm for you metric guys). Anyways, spacing out the manifold comes with its own problems such as lengthening the oil supply line and adding another 3/4" spacer to the flange on the oil drain line. Not only that but the stock wastegate actuator won't line up with the bolts on the compressor housing and the rod needs to be modified.

So I have two options: Stick with the hybrid idea and do the necessary modifications, or put the t4 back together and ditch the stock stuff and go with a full T4. I am beginning to doubt the point of going along the hybrid line because its advantage is that it is a bolt in replacement.

Do you guys think it would really be worth it?

It might be cause you're using a T04E housing. I thought it was the T04B compressor and backing plate that was the bolt on.

It is, but i found this one for a price i couldnt refuse and decided to try it out. Now I know why there aren't many T04E hybrids.

The question I am asking is should I just make it work or go with the full T4.

ditch the slow spooling hybrid stocker and just go with a complete turbo swap, you will thank yourself for it later.

i've found it's more of a pain also to try and work around the stock lines for custom applications than it is just to plumb new lines for T3/T4 turbos anyways even with coolant and oil.
