How would I wire up this pump? Supra TT pump.
 

Going from, what I assume is a stock S5 TII pump to a Denso Supra TT Pump. How exactly would I wire this up? Supra only has a positive and negative post, and an inlet. Stock pump has the bulkhead connector. Would I need to pick up a bulkhead connector for the Supra pump? I'm good at turning a wrench, but I am awful at anything electrical.

I think you're overthinking the situation. Crimp or solder two ring terminals onto the existing harness and you're in business. I would suggest cutting off where someone previously raped the harness, and solder/heat shrink a fresh extension from there.

Your fuel pump is not stock, it would have ring terminal like the Denso pump.

Looks like it might be a Walbro, with some really scary exposed solder joints.

+1 on those solder joints, was it like that when you pull the hanger out of the tank or did you remove the shrink wrap? I would offset the solder joints so they will never touch even if the shrink wrap come lose for whatever reason.

He bought a Supra pump from me and is probably asking for some advice on wire gauges and types for submersing in the fuel tank as well as crimping on ring terminals.
Possibly if upgrades as far as relays, if you believe they are necessary and if so which ones and maybe a guide to wiring it up for good reliable voltage. If you think the stock wiring/bulkhead can handle the AMPs he is looking for opinions for his setup.

This is correct. I've read to switch to a thicker gauge wire for the Supra TT pump because it draws more amperage than most other pumps and I know the stock wiring is not capable enough to hold that amperage bump. FWIW- I have hopefully found an entire replacement harness from racetronix.com like you said, I just have to look closer at the Supra pump and the bulkhead connector on the assembly.


Also, yes, the solder joints were exposed when I pulled the pump out. This car is a complete effing nightmare with the wiring. I almost feel like I have to pull everything and check all of it and hopefully not have to replace or rewire a bunch of stuff. I don't even want to start with the mess that is under the dash. I looked one time and told myself the next time I am under there is to rip it all out and start over fresh.

If I remember correctly Aaron Cake had replied in a thread that showed some Bulkhead connectors that you can install on the sending unit that would hold the current with no problem.
Use a nice new pigtail for that pump and hook it up to a new bulk head connector and you are good to go.

If you get real confused about the wiring under t he dash then you can go to the grocery store and get a can of sauce..for the "spaghetti"..
A nice bottle of "whine" will not be needed..(lol!)

(you should see the truck that the landlord wants me to figure out..20 guys with wire cutters and tape were there before me!)

FWIW- I'm sticking with the Walbro. If I knew it had a Walbro I would have never pulled the assembly, but I'm now glad I did that. Ordered a new wiring harness from snailbums and it should hopefully be here today or tomorrow.

I'm either going to just resell the TT pump, or keep it for whenever I get around to doing a different turbo setup.
