How to Restrict Oil to the Single?

I search for couldnt find anything.

Does anyone know where to find something to restrict the oil for a T67-1. Would using a -3 lines be enough or should there be more restriction?

Thanks

You could use a -3AN line and loop it.....kinda like a rollercoaster. That oil is not under high pressure so that should slow down the flow plenty.

The oil going to the turbo is not under preasure?? I think NOT...

I don't see why you should have to restrict the oil going to the turbo, just about all turbos, except some BB ones i've seen have either and internal restrictor or just just plain dont need one.

Definetly restrict it, high oil pressure on most rotaries can oversupply oil to the turbo beyond the gravity drain capacity of a -10 return line.

The -3 should be ok. If you use larger hose then install an orifice in the fitting on the turbo. I tapped the id of an AN fitting to accept a threaded plug. Then drilled a small hole in the plug and homemade orifice that can be swapped out or omitted as needed.

This is pretty much what I did except to a banjo bolt. I have been told that you need a restrictor from .065-.085" depending on your turbo. Mine has a .081".

Anyone know what size orifice comes in the T-78 kit? Or if one is even used?

the main reason for restricting oil supply is in worst case scenario if oil pressure is too high it can push the thrust bearing off its seat and as a result oil pressure is lost through the thrust bearing galleries leading to the pads that contact the thrust collar

with high performance applications i used to screw the thrust bearings down rather then use the standard method of a spring located in the backplate , another method is to overlap a second spring into the backplate

when i was faced with a similar do i or dont i restrict the oil flow arguement many years ago i researched it and found that a max of 25 p.s.i is needed at the turbo and modded my fitting to reach the desired pressure

guys with Hitachi turbo's need not worry coz they run a restrictor anyway

Oil feed not being pressurized? I hear something new everyday.

Garrett GT CHRA have built-in restrictors.
I've seen quite a few turbonetics turbos with NO restrictor in the feed of the CHRA.
It really depends on who builds the CHRA, not the name brand nor type (ball bearing vs. non-ball bearing).

I've tapped my -3 (or -4) oil feed line with a 1/4" NPT.
I used the Holley Jet to restrict the oil feed line (pn# 122-60).
